Nigeria vs Angola odds
We’re into the quarter-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, and Nigeria’s quest for the fourth title continues. It’s been 11 years since Nigeria were last crowned champions of Africa, beating Burkina Faso in the final in 2013. Since then, they have failed to qualify twice and finished third, before a last 16 exit two years ago. But they have put that tournament firmly behind them to reach the quarter-finals. The Super Eagles finished second on their group on goal difference with two wins and a draw, beating Ivory Coast and Guinea-Bissau while drawing against group winners Equatorial Guinea. That set Nigeria up against Group C runners-up Cameroon, and it was a straightforward victory with a goal in each half.
Angola, meanwhile, have now equalled their best-ever run at the Africa Cup of Nations. Of their nine participations at the Africa Cup of Nations, Angola have only made it out of the group stage three times, including this year’s tournament. The previous two occasions came in 2008 and 2010, the latter as hosts, and they bowed out at the quarter-final stage both times. However, that was when it was a smaller tournament, so the quarter-finals were the reward for getting out of the group. Angola topped their group this year, starting with a draw against Algeria before beating Mauritania and Burkina Faso. They played Namibia, who finished third in Group E, in the last 16 and eased through with a 3-0 win.

Nigeria vs Angola match tip
Only Nigeria to score @ 6/5 with Bet365
Angola have been decent scorers at the Africa Cup of Nations this year, scoring nine goals across their four games so far. But they face a tough test against a stern Nigeria defence. After drawing their first group game 1-1, Nigeria have kept a clean sheet in each of their past three matches, shutting out Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau and Cameroon.
Nigeria vs Angola Bet-Builder tip
Nigeria to win, under 2.5 goals and Ademola Lookman to score anytime
Nigeria have a good record when it comes to Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals, only once failing to get past that stage when they have reached it. Since that failure in 2008, Nigeria have finished third, won AFCON and finished third again. On top of their strong defence, Nigeria were thankful to Ademola Lookman last time out, with the Atalanta winger the only Super Eagles player to score more than once at this year’s AFCON.
Nigeria have won their last three AFCON quarter-finals.
Nigeria have kept three cleans in their four AFCON games.
Ademola Lookman is the only Nigeria player with more than one goal at AFCON this year.
