Before the international break, Newcastle saw a seven-game unbeaten run in the Premier League come to an end as they fell to a 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth, as they continued to struggle on the road. However, at home, Newcastle have won six of their seven home league games, including a victory over Arsenal and a 4-1 hammering of Chelsea last time out as they moved to 7th, one point behind this weekend’s opponents Manchester United.

They will have to pick themselves up quickly however, after a controversial stoppage-time penalty from Kylian Mbappe broke Newcastle hearts as they look set to leave the Parc de Princes with all three points after Alexander Isak became the first Newcastle player to score away from home in the Champions League since Alan Shearer in 2003.

Despite making three wins on the bounce and five wins from their last six Premier League games with a 3-0 win over Everton last weekend, it has been a disappointing week for the Red Devils as they gave up a two-goal lead away at Galatasaray in midweek, leaving their Champions League dreams hanging on by the smallest of threads. Their recent away form domestically however, is much more impressive, winning each of their last four league games on the road having won just three of their first 12 Premier League away games in 2023 (D2 L7).

Newcastle have gotten the better of the head-to-head meetings between these two sides in recent times and are looking to win three consecutive meetings with Manchester United in all competitions for the first time since January 1922 and go three league games in a row without conceding against the Red Devils for the first time in since November 1897 in 126 years.

Newcastle vs Man Utd match tip

BTTS No @ 23/20 with BetMGM

Man Utd have been a strange team to call this season, while Newcastle’s form may depend on how their injury issues develop over the next two weeks. However, on previous patterns in this fixture, we may see one team fail to find the net. Each of the last four games between Newcastle and Man Utd have seen at least one team keep a clean sheet. Newcastle have won the last two without conceding, while Man Utd picked up a clean sheet in their EFL Cup final win. The match before that was a goalless draw.

Gordon has also picked up six yellow cards, contributing to Newcastle’s 33 overall, with only Chelsea, Wolves and Tottenham gathering more in the Premier League so far this season.
