Newcastle vs Crystal Palace predictions, odds, betting tips and team news
Newcastle United will be looking to boost their top four chances when they host Crystal Palace at St James’ Park in the Premier League on Wednesday 16th April at 7:30pm.
Crystal Palace will still be eyeing a top-half finish too, after a good run of results. This is both sides’ game in hand on the teams around them, postponed due to Newcastle’s involvement in the Carabao Cup final.
Newcastle to win to nil (12/5 with Paddy Power)
Crystal Palace have failed to score in each of their past four visits to St James’ Park across all competitions as their troubles in the North East continue. Newcastle are also in great form, winning their last four in a row in the Premier League and moving up to fourth spot as a result. The Magpies have kept a clean sheet in two of those four games and will be looking to pick up another win to solidify their chances of a top four finish and a return to the Champions League.
Under 2.5 goals (6/5 with BetMGM)
Crystal Palace still boast the second best away defence in the Premier League this season, conceding an average of 0.86 goals per game on the road. They’ve been a hard side to break down on the road, conceding just 17 goals in 15 games and this has been the real reason behind their success this season. Newcastle have scored in their last four games though and look good value to pick up a slender win under the St James’ Park lights.

Newcastle vs Crystal Palace Odds
How both teams go into Newcastle vs Crystal Palace
Newcastle already have a route to European football in 2025-26 nailed down, by virtue of winning the Carabao Cup. But they’ll have their sights set firmly on a return to the Champions League. After 31 games played, Newcastle are fourth, one point above fifth-placed Man City. And the Magpies are on a good run at the moment, winning four of their past five league games.
They’ve won their last three games at home, although they have conceded five times across those three games, scoring 10. It remains to be seen if Eddie Howe will return to the sidelines for this game, having missed the win over Man Utd through illness, but even if he isn’t fit enough to take charge Newcastle look in really good shape to find another win and gain a four point advantage in the race for Champions League football.
Crystal Palace had a slow start to the season but they’ve fully recovered. And now they’ll be aiming to finish as high as possible. The Eagles sit 12th after 31 games, with 11 wins and 10 draws alongside 10 defeats. They sit three points outside the top half but, again, have a game in hand on those around them with victory here putting them into 10th. They’re probably out of the European hunt, but the Eagles can definitely enjoy a late surge as they try and have a remarkable end to their season, with a potential FA Cup final also on the horizon.
Palace took a 2-0 lead over Man City at the weekend, and looked good value to claim the win before City turned on the afterburners, eventually running out 5-2 winners. That loss ended a run of four games without loss for Oliver Glasner’s side and they’ll be keen to get back to picking up points as they attempt to make a late run for a Conference League spot.
Newcastle team news
Sven Botman, Jamaal Lascelles and Lewis Hall are all out for Newcastle, with the latter set to miss the rest of the season.
Crystal Palace team news
Cheick Doucoure and Chadi Riad are long-term absentees for Crystal Palace, while Joel Ward remains a doubt.
Newcastle vs Crystal Palace head-to-head
These two sides have shared a win each in the past five meetings, though Newcastle do have a penalty shootout victory as part of the three draws. Palace have won just one of their past eight games against Newcastle.
