Newcastle vs Brentford Premier League predictions: Tips, odds and team news
Newcastle United will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they welcome Brentford to St James’ Park on Saturday at 5:30pm (UK time).
Newcastle vs Brentford odds
After their fourth-placed finish last season, many expected Newcastle to be challenging for the Champions League once more and perhaps even the title. There were some doubts as to how they’d cope when the Champions League group stage comes around, but the Magpies are struggling even before that. At the first international break of the season, Newcastle are currently 14th in the Premier League with one win and three defeats from their opening four games. The marker was laid down in the first game with a 5-1 thrashing of Aston Villa, but Newcastle have since lost to Man City, Liverpool and Brighton, the latter a 3-1 defeat in which they were thoroughly outplayed.
Brentford, meanwhile, are one of six teams still unbeaten in the Premier League after four games — but their record is slightly less impressive. The Bees have won just one game with three draws, opening the campaign with a 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur. A run of London derbies saw Brentford then beat Fulham 3-0 away but there was another draw after against Crystal Palace. Just before the international break, Brentford were held to a 2-2 draw by Bournemouth, needing a late equaliser to seal the point.
The Bees have the highest Expected Goals in the Premier League so far this season (10.03) as well as the highest Non-penalty Expected Goals (8.45) and are looking to win three successive away games for the first time ever in the top-flight.

Newcastle vs Brentford match tip
Bryan Mbeumo to score anytime @16/5 with Betfair
Bryan Mbeumo was the injury-time hero for Brentford against Bournemouth, scoring in the dying stages to secure the Bees a point. The goal continued his fine start to the Premier League season, taking up some of the goalscoring responsibility in the absence of Ivan Toney. Mbeumo has four goals this season, netting in three of Brentford’s matches, including a brace in their only away game to date.
The 24-year-old has scored seven goals in his last seven games in the Premier League, as many as he scored in his previous 55 appearances in the competition.
Newcastle vs Brentford Bet-Builder tip
BTTS > Brentford to have most corners > Bryan Mbeumo to score anytime
Although they have won one and lost three, Newcastle’s goal difference is perfectly balanced with seven goals scored and seven conceded. However, it really hasn’t been a good start to the season for the Magpies.
Only Nottingham Forest have won fewer corners than Newcastle’s 14 in the Premier League season, while only Taiwo Awoniyi (9) and Erling Haaland (8) have scored more goals than Bryan Mbeumo (7) since the start of May.
