Moreirense vs Benfica match tip

Benfica win and BTTS @ 11/5 with Bet365

This is a fixture that Benfica dominate, with 23 wins from the 32 meetings across all competitions, but Moreirense have scored in the past four meetings. On top of that, three of Benfica’s last five Primeira Liga away wins have seen both teams find the net. When you add the fact that Moreirense have only failed to score twice this season, it seems very likely that they will at least breach the Benfica net.

*Odds correct as of 18:00 on December 2

This is the first round of fixtures of the Primeira Liga after the November international break, with the Portuguese Cup taking precedent last weekend. Before the break, Benfica went top of the table thanks to their 2-1 win over Sporting CP, leapfrogging their rivals on goal difference as things stand — though head-to-head comes into play at the end of the campaign. Of course, Benfica currently have the advantage there, and it’s been a good start to the season. Benfica did lose their opening game to Boavista but have since dropped just two points in a 1-1 draw with Casa Pia alongside nine wins.

Moreirense won’t be an easy task, however. Rui Borges’ men are sixth after 11 games and sit just three points behind fourth-placed Braga in what is the final European qualifying spot. Before the international break, Moreirense beat Estrela 1-0 to extend their unbeaten run to six matches, winning five. During that run, Moreirense only dropped points in a draw with Boavista. But since then it’s been a hat-trick of 1-0 victories. It is worth noting, however, that Moreirense’s three league defeats this season have come against Porto, Braga and Sporting CP.
