How both teams go into Monaco vs Aston Villa

Monaco have enjoyed a solid Champions League campaign so far, sitting 16th with 10 points on the board from six matches. That’s enough to give them a three-point and eight-place cushion within the knockout qualification spots, meaning they need just a couple more points to realistically secure progression. However, remaining fixtures against Aston Villa and Inter — the latter away — will not be easy for the team placed third in Ligue 1.

Meanwhile, Villa’s return to the Champions League has been a huge success, with Unai Emery’s men fifth in the table with just one defeat from six matches and 13 points on the board — only Barcelona (15) and Liverpool (18) have more.
