Monaco vs Aston Villa Odds

How both teams go into Monaco vs Aston Villa

Monaco have enjoyed a solid Champions League campaign so far, sitting 16th with 10 points on the board from six matches. That’s enough to give them a three-point and eight-place cushion within the knockout qualification spots, meaning they need just a couple more points to realistically secure progression. However, remaining fixtures against Aston Villa and Inter — the latter away — will not be easy for the team placed fourth in Ligue 1.

Meanwhile, Villa’s return to the Champions League has been a huge success, with Unai Emery’s men fifth in the table with just one defeat from six matches and 13 points on the board — only Barcelona (15) and Liverpool (18) have more. The Villains host Celtic after this match but will want to win here to shore up their place in the top eight. Either way, supporters have more nights under the lights against Europe’s best to look forward to.

Monaco team news

Christian Mawissa, Edan Diop and Folarin Balogun could all return for this match. However, Krepin Diatta will remain sidelined for a while yet.

Aston Villa team news

John McGinn is out until next month, whilst Ross Barkley, Pau Torres and Diego Carlos will also all be missing.

Monaco vs Aston Villa head-to-head

This will be the first-ever competitive meeting between these two sides. Villa have a poor record against French opposition, winning just three of eight previous meetings. However, they did beat Lille on penalties in the quarter-final of the Uefa Conference League last season after a 3-3 aggregate draw.
