Betting tips

Middlesbrough 2-1 Swansea (15/2 with Bet Goodwin)

Middlesbrough have scored two goals in three of their past four home games against Swansea, all of which have been wins.

Emmanuel Latte Lath to score anytime (17/10 with BetMGM)

Emmanuel Latte Lath was prolific in front of goal in the Championship last season. The Ivorian scored 16 goals in 30 games, averaging 0.69 per 90 minutes. He also averaged 3.14 shots per 90 minutes and 1.81 shots on target.

Middlesbrough to win and BTTS (5/2 with Betfair)

Middlesbrough are unbeaten in their past six games against Swansea, winning five including the last four in a row.

After three consecutive top eight finishes, Michael Carrick will be hoping that 2024/25 is finally the campaign where he leads Middlesbrough back to the Premier League after seven years in the Championship.

Boro finished eighth, four points off the final play-off spot, last season, losing just one of their final 11 matches. However, it was their terrible start to the campaign that left them with too much to do in the end, having picked up just two points from their opening seven games.

They will be hoping to pick up where they left off last season and give themselves the best possible chance of promotion, starting with a positive result against a Swansea side that they have an impressive recent record against.

Like Middlesbrough, Swansea also had a terrible start to the Championship season last term, also failing to win any of their opening seven matches (three draws and four defeats). They did pick up with four wins from the next five, but continued to struggle across the campaign, ending the season in 14th, 12 points behind Boro.

Middlesbrough host Swansea at the Riverside on Saturday 10th August at 12:30pm.

Middlesbrough team news

Luke Ayling has joined on a free transfer from Leeds after being on loan for the end of last season. He’ll be expected to start at right-back, while Emmanuel Latte Lath will lead the line.

Also arriving at Middlesbrough this summer have been Aidan Morris and Delano Burgzorg from Colombus Crew and Mainz respectively.

Swansea team news

Luke Williams is expected to continue with his 4-2-3-1 set up for the new campaign, bringing in both Goncalo Franco and Ji-sung Eom to boost his squad. However, he will be without both Jerry Yates, who scored eight league goals for the club last season, after he joined Derby on loan, and centre-back Nathan Wood, who left for Premier League side Southampton.

Top goalscorer from last season Jamal Lowe returned to his parent club Bournemouth before signing for Sheffield Wednesday.

Middlesbrough vs Swansea head-to-head

Matches between these two sides have been very close in recent times, with Middlesbrough nearly always coming out on top. Swansea’s only victory in the last eight matches with Boro came back in March 2021.
