Man City vs Huddersfield odds
Holders Man City set out to defend their crown against Championship side Huddersfield, dreaming of another treble winning campaign. Pep Guardiola’s side won the competition for the first time since 2019 last season, with a double from now-Barcelona midfielder Ilkay Gundogan clinching the trophy against rivals Manchester United. They would go on to become just the second English side to win the treble (after Man Utd) and the first English side to win the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World in the same calendar year in a history-defining season.
Huddersfield, who generally struggle in this competition, having made it past the third round in just one of the last five seasons were handed the worst possible draw, but that won’t stop them from giving the game a go. In the fifth round back in 2017, they managed to keep the Citizens at bay in the first leg, drawing 0-0 before eventually losing 5-1 in the replay despite taking a seventh-minute lead, with goals from Sergio Aguero (2), Kelechi Iheanacho, Leroy Sane and Pablo Zabaleta ending their dreams of an upset.
