Man Utd trying to turn things around
There was more disappointment for Man Utd the last time they walked out at Old Trafford in the Premier League. Hoping to bridge the gap between themselves and the top four, Man Utd hosted Fulham having been unbeaten at home against the Cottagers since 2003. But that streak has been reset to zero, with Fulham leaving 2-1 victors. Although the winner came in the dying stages, it was a result both Fulham and Man Utd completed deserved.
The Red Devils were poor, outplayed by Fulham for the majority of the game, only boosting their own shooting stats when the Cottagers tried to sit back. Man Utd’s 10th league defeat of the season — already equalling their total tally from last season — five of those have come at Old Trafford. Fortunately, Man Utd have followed up three of the previous four defeats at home with victory at Old Trafford, with the only exception being when they lost back-to-back games against Brighton and Crystal Palace. However, they’ll be low on confidence after easily surrendering a 1-0 lead to lose the Manchester derby 3-1 last week.
Everton’s renaissance is well and truly over, with the Toffees now winless in their past 10 league games, having won four in a row without conceding. Five of those games have been away from home, with the Toffees losing to Tottenham, Wolves and Man City, while drawing against Fulham and Brighton.
Everton remain outside the relegation zone, but they now have a five-point buffer over Luton after having their points deduction reduced by four. Still, Luton have a game in hand and Sean Dyche’s side will need to step up if they are to avoid falling out of the Premier League for the first time.
Man Utd vs Everton match tip
Man Utd to win and BTTS @ 11/5 by 10bet
Man Utd fans will want to avoid talks of Old Trafford runs. The Red Devils lost to Fulham at Old Trafford for the first time in 20 years recently, and the Cottagers hadn’t won away from home since the first weekend of the season. But this feels like too big of an ask for Everton. The Toffees are winless away from home in five matches as part of a wider 10-game streak without victory. They also haven’t won at Old Trafford since December 2013, when Bryan Oviedo scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory, coming in the 86th minute. However, Man Utd’s defence has looked shaky this season, and they’ve only kept three clean sheets from their 13 home league games.
Man Utd vs Everton odds
Despite back-to-back league defeats, Man Utd are odds-on favourites for this game, and it’s easy to see why. As mentioned, Everton haven’t won in their past five away games, and Man Utd walked over the Toffees when they met earlier this season. It was the first game after Everton’s points deduction, and Man Utd added to the misery with a 3-0 victory at Goodison Park. Everton won their next four games after that, but Man Utd will be hoping to continue the Toffees’ current poor streak.
