How to watch Man Utd vs Liverpool live

Man Utd vs Liverpool will kick off at 4pm on Sunday 1st September and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League.

How both teams go into Man Utd vs Liverpool

It’s only matchweek three and fans are being treated with a big clash. Man Utd host rivals Liverpool hoping to bounce back from an agonising defeat last time out. The Red Devils opened the Premier League season with a 1-0 win over Fulham, which was a lot more comfortable than the scoreline suggests.

However, Man Utd’s second game took them away to face Brighton — a team they have struggled against recently. And the struggles continued. After initially coming from behind to draw level, Man Utd thought they had gone ahead but the offside Joshua Zirkzee got a touch on Alejandro Garnacho’s goal-bound shot before it went over the line. And a defensive lapse in injury time saw Joao Pedro take all three points for Brighton.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have started life under Arne Slot fairly well. The Reds are one of four teams still boasting a perfect record in the Premier League after four games. They are also one of two teams yet to concede a goal. It’s been a pair of 2-0 wins for Liverpool, beating Ipswich on the opening weekend and then Brentford last time out.

But now Slot faces Man Utd and history. None of the last nine Liverpool managers have won their first league meeting with Man Utd, since Bob Paisley beat them 3-1 in November 1975. In fact, only one Liverpool manager has won their first away league game against Man Utd, with George Kay’s side winning 5-2 at Old Trafford in November 1936.

Manchester United host Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday 1st September at 4pm.

Man Utd team news

Unfortunately for Man Utd there has been no let up with injuries this season. New signing Leny Yoro will be out for some time, with Tyrell Malacia also a slightly longer-term absentee. Luke Shaw, Rasmus Hojlund and Victor Lindelof could all return after the international break. Mason Mount had to come off against Brighton due to injury and is a doubt.

Of course, Man Utd will also be without Scott McTominay as he looks set to finalise his move to Napoli. Jadon Sancho may also be out of the doors before this game comes around.

Liverpool team news

Arne Slot comes into this game with his team in a good position. Curtis Jones is the only injury doubt, having missed the win over Brentford. But the midfield was an unused substitute in the opening weekend victory against Ipswich.

Slot has made just one change to his Liverpool starting XI so far, with Ibrahima Konate replacing Jarell Quansah between the two games. Konate is expected to keep his place in the team, which should be unchanged for the trip to Old Trafford.

Man Utd vs Liverpool head-to-head

Each side has won two of the last six meetings between these fierce rivals, with the other two ending all square. The last away win in this fixture was in October 2021, when Liverpool beat Man Utd 5-0 at Old Trafford.
