How to watch Man United vs Tottenham live
The showdown between Man United and Tottenham kicks off on Sunday 29th September at 4:30pm and will be broadcast live in the UK on Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Main Event.
How both teams go into Man United vs Tottenham
After saving his job following a challenging 2023-24 campaign, Erik ten Hag would have wanted no setbacks to start this season. An opening-round win over Fulham, though, was followed by consecutive losses against Brighton and Liverpool. But following the international break, Man United’s winless streak ended when they picked up a resounding 3-0 win at Southampton, but were held to a stalemate at Crystal Palace on matchday five.
Although Man United have kept four clean sheets in their last six Premier League games, which is more than they had in their previous 24 combined (3), they’ve lost both games in which they’ve conceded during this run (W3 D1).
But worrying is the fact that Man United have the third-highest xG in the Premier League this season (9.6) but have scored just five goals. Only Southampton have a bigger negative difference between its goals (2) and expected goals (7.1) so far this term.
Furthermore, they’ve lost seven of their last 19 Premier League home games, including a 3-0 loss to Liverpool in their last such match. They had been unbeaten in 20 at Old Trafford before this current run.
It hasn’t been the smoothest of starts for Tottenham, who have accumulated seven points from their opening five matches. It began with a 1-1 draw at newly promoted Leicester City before they humbled Everton 4-0 at home. But since then, Ange Postecoglou’s side couldn’t buy a win, suffering back-to-back losses against Newcastle and neighbours Arsenal, but they ended that run with a comeback win over Brentford.
Since the start of last season, only Manchester City (31) have gained more points from losing positions in the Premier League than Tottenham (28).
But it’s worth acknowledging that since picking up 14 points from their first six Premier League away games under Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham have picked up just a further 14 points from their last 15 on the road. Indeed, among ever-present sides over the last two seasons, no side has won fewer Premier League away games since the start of November than Spurs.
Man United host Tottenham at Old Trafford on Sunday 29th September at 4:30pm.
Man United team news
Man United have no new injuries to report. Long-term absentees include Leny Yoro, Luke Shaw, Victor Lindelof, and Tyrell Malacia, who are all continuing their recoveries.
Marcus Rashford is expected to start after being surprisingly left on the bench for last weekend’s 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace. Despite scoring three times in his previous two games, Erik ten Hag cited “rotation” as the reason for his absence.
In addition, Manuel Ugarte could make his first league start. The Uruguayan midfielder has made two substitute appearances so far, with starts in the Carabao Cup and Europa League, but is likely to replace Christian Eriksen in the lineup on Sunday.
Tottenham team news
Tottenham welcomed back Yves Bissouma and Timo Werner before last weekend’s win over Brentford. But they are now without winger Wilson Odobert, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury. Richarlison is their only other notable absentee.
Man United vs Tottenham head-to-head
After a run of four straight Premier League defeats against Man United between 2021 and 2022, Tottenham are now unbeaten in their last three against them.
