Man United vs Nottingham Forest

Man United and Nottingham Forest lock horns in a Premier League clash on Saturday, December 8th, at 5:30pm (UK time), with the match broadcast live on Sky Sports Main Event. Both teams arrive at Old Trafford after midweek defeats, with just three points separating the pair in the Premier League standings.

Under 3.5 Goals & Diogo Dalot 1+ Foul Committed  (5/6 with Sky Bet)

Nottingham Forest tend to play a defensive type of game under Nuno Espirito Santo, and I think they will frustrate Manchester United for large parts on Saturday. I’ve opted for under 3.5 goals, which has landed in all of Forest’s last five and eight of their last nine in the league. The Tricky Trees only conceded seven goals in their first ten matches this season, and another low-scoring affair could be on the cards.

I’ve paired under 3.5 goals with Diogo Dalot to commit a foul at Old Trafford. Dalot is currently on a run of nine consecutive home league matches in which he has given away at least one foul. He has committed multiple fouls in four of those nine, and up against former United man Anthony Elanga, I fancy a repeat.

Bruno Fernandes to Assist & Lisandro Martinez to be Carded (13/1 with BetMGM)

In all competitions, Bruno Fernandes has been involved in 11 goals in his last ten appearances at Old Trafford for Manchester United. In that period, he has four goals and seven assists, and it’s the latter I’m backing at the prices. Fernandes has four assists in his last four in the league, and he can turn provider once more against Forest.

I correctly tipped up Lisandro Martinez to be carded last weekend, and after serving a one-game suspension midweek, he will be back in the starting line-up on Saturday. Forest can cause United problems on the break with Callum Hudson-Odoi, Chris Wood and Anthony Elanga, and this is where a card could be picked up for Martinez. The World Cup winner is averaging 0.46 cards per 90 minutes this season, and pairing him with Fernandes to assist pays a best-price of 13/1 with Unibet.

How both teams go into Man United vs Nottingham Forest

Following a lacklustre period under Erik ten Hag, Manchester United appointed Ruben Amorim from Sporting CP to revitalise their fortunes. After a point against Ipswich in his first game, Amorim achieved wins over Bodo and Everton before taking his side to the Emirates on Wednesday. United lost the game 2-0 to Arsenal, with Amorim realising the magnitude of the job he has on his hands. The 13-time Premier League champions sit 13th in the table, having accrued 19 points from their first 14 matches of the campaign.

Nottingham Forest’s impressive three-game winning streak a month ago propelled them up the table, much to the delight of their supporters, who had previously witnessed their team languishing near the relegation zone. However, since then, they have lost their of their last four. Forest remain in the top half in 7th, and a win at Old Trafford could lift them as high as fifth.

Man United team news

Lisandro Martinez and Kobbie Mainoo both return after serving a one-match suspension midweek. Lery Yoro is in contention to make his first start, while Victor Lindelof is out with a groin issue.
