Wolves vs Man City Premier League predictions: tips, odds & team news
Wolves welcome champions Man City to Molineux on Saturday at 3pm (UK time).
Wolves vs Man City odds
Treble winners Manchester City have made the perfect start in their quest to become the first ever side to win the Premier League in four successive seasons, scoring 16 goals and conceding three in their opening six league matches and continuing as the only side left in the division with a 100% record. Pep Guardiola’s side made light work of new boys Burnley on the opening day with a 3-0 win at Turf Moor and have since followed it up with victories over Newcastle, Sheffield United, Fulham, West Ham and most recently Nottingham Forest.
However, a 1-0 defeat to Newcastle in the League Cup in midweek has left a sour taste in the mouth as City’s hopes of the quadruple were dashed in the third round.
Wolves, meanwhile, have a disappointing season to date result wise, despite some impressive displays. Gary O’Neil’s men have lost four of their opening six games, including each both of their games at Molineux, with a late 1-0 away win over strugglers Everton the only positive so far this campaign. Wolves have won just two of their last 39 Premier League games that they have conceded in (D9, L27), so it may be game over if City take an early lead.

Pep Guardiola’s side are the top scoring Premier League side in 2023, scoring 66 times in their 28 matches so far in this calendar year, averaging 2.4 goals per game. The Citizens also have an impressive record against Wolves, winning each of their last six matches by an aggregate score of 19-3.
Wolves vs Man City Bet-Builder tip
Man City to win > Over 2.5 Goals > Julian Alvarez to provide an assist
City are the only side with a 100% record in the Premier League in 2023/24 and have won their last six matches against opponents Wolves. Julian Alvarez has created more chances than any other Man City player so far this season and has three assists in his last three Premier League away games.
City are looking to become only the third side to win each of their opening seven matches in a season in the competition, after Chelsea in 2005-06 (first 9) and Liverpool in 2019-20 (first 8), both of whom would go on to lift the title.

Gary O’Neil has a near fully fit squad to choose from with Joseph Hodge the only injury. However Jean-Ricner Bellegarde’s red card against Luton means he misses the visit of the champions through suspension.

– | Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne | – |
Matheus Nunes will be hoping to get the chance to face his former side after leaving Molineux for Manchester less than a month ago, but Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne remains out for the champions. Rodri is suspended after being sent-off against Nottingham Forest, so Kalvin Phillips may continue in the middle of midfield after starting there against Newcastle in midweek.
Erling Haaland played no part against Newcastle on Wednesday and Pep Guardiola has given his reasons for leaving the Norwegian on the bench, saying “I thought Kyle [Walker had played] a lot of minutes, Erling a lot of minutes. We have a lot of games ahead of us. “Maybe the last 10-15 minutes [to bring him on] but I decided not to do it.”
The Spaniard also defended his selection after their 1-0 defeat.
“We decide for this lineup but always have done that in the Carabao Cup since day one arrive. The Carabao Cup I always play the players who don’t play regularly.”
“If you go through, go through. When you arrive semi-finals, think okay now we try to win it. I don’t want to waste energy in this competition at that stage. Unfortunately we have a lot of injuries that the guys who play don’t play. Today the guys who don’t play regularly. Unfortunately I play Manu Akanji who I would like to rest, but that is the decision always have done.”
