Man City vs Leicester prediction, odds, tips and team news
Manchester City host Leicester City in the Premier League on Wednesday at 7:45pm (UK time).
Both sides desperately need a win for very different reasons, with Man City fifth in the table, a point behind the top four and just one ahead of Newcastle, while Leicester are 19th and nine points from safety.
Man City to Win to Nil (11/10 with Sky Bet)
Man City have won each of their last six Premier League meetings with Leicester, keeping a clean sheet in four of them. What’s more, Leicester are enduring a miserable run of six defeats and zero goals in their last six league outings. City were much improved in the second half against Bournemouth on Sunday and they can win comfortably here.
Under 1.5 Cards (4/1 with Paddy Power)
Leicester are going down without a fight, and I expect a low card count in a slow-tempo game at the Etihad on Wednesday. Referee Darren England takes the whistle for this one and he has brandished Under 2.5 cards in five of his last of his ten. Seven of City’s last 11 matches in all competitions have seen Under 2.5 cards, and I’m willing to take a chance here at a big price on Under 1.5, which has landed in four of City’s last six at home.

How both teams go into Man City vs Leicester
Man City’s struggles continue, heading into the international break off the back of a 2-2 draw with Brighton and a 1-0 defeat away at Nottingham Forest, meaning they’ve taken just four points from their last four Premier League games and just seven from their last six. Pep Guardiola’s men are still strongly backed for Champions League qualification, especially with fifth place likely being enough this time. However, the Spaniard will likely be glad to see the back of this campaign. The win over Bournemouth in the FA Cup on Sunday, now means they have reached seven consecutive semi-finals in the competition.
Leicester may well be the perfect opponent for City, losing their last six league matches without scoring a single goal. That slump has left the Foxes 19th and nine points adrift of safety, with time now running out if they’re to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.
Man City team news
Bernardo Silva picked up a knock against Brighton but was fit enough to come off the bench toward the end of Portugal’s 1-0 Nations League defeat to Denmark and should be fine here. John Stones, Manuel Akanji, Nathan Ake and Rodri will all be out of action, but Oscar Bobb could feature in the squad. Erling Haaland will miss most of the remainder of the campaign due to an ankle injury.
Leicester team news
Leicester could have Harry Souttar and Odsonne Edouard back for this match, but Abdul Fatawu is out until next season.
Man City vs Leicester head-to-head
Man City have enjoyed themselves against Leicester in recent times, although they did lose to the Foxes in the Community Shield back in August 2021.
