Manchester City vs Brentford Premier League predictions: Will Haaland continue ruthless start?
Defending Premier League champions Manchester City will look to continue their perfect start to the 2024/25 campaign when they host Brentford.
Pep Guardiola’s men have already swept away Chelsea, Ipswich and West Ham by a 9-2 combined scoreline, fuelled by the goals of Erling Haaland, who already has seven in just three games. Brentford, meanwhile, have also enjoyed a strong start, taking six points from their first three outings.

Three Man City vs Brentford predictions
Man City 3-1 Brentford (8/1 with Betano)
Despite their strong start, Man City are coming up against a Brentford side against whom they’ve struggled in recent times, only scoring more than two goals in just one of their six meetings since the Bees were promoted. They’ve only lost two of those meetings, winning the other four.
Erling Haaland anytime goalscorer (1/4 with Betano)
Erling Haaland has seven goals in the Premier League this season, the most ever by a player in a team’s first three matches of a campaign in the competition. The record in a team’s first four matches in a Premier League season is eight goals by Wayne Rooney for Manchester United in 2011-12.
Man City to win either 3-0 or 3-1 (29/10 with Betano)
Manchester City have won each of their last 12 Premier League games, all by a margin of 2+ goals. Indeed, under Pep Guardiola alone, the Citizens are responsible for six of the 16 runs of 12+ consecutive wins by any clubs in English top-flight history (38%).
How both teams go into Man City vs Brentford
Manchester City are looking rampant in their bid to secure a historic fifth consecutive Premier League title. The Cityzens have already breezed past Chelsea, Ipswich, and West Ham, fueled once again by the goals of Erling Haaland, who has scored seven times already, at least four more than any other player. Although Liverpool also remains undefeated and Arsenal is unbeaten, it’s already hard to look beyond City for the title again. It’s a rather depressing thought for the neutral.
Brentford seems not to have been affected by the uncertainty surrounding Ivan Toney, who has finally departed for Saudi Arabia. The Bees have taken six points from their opening three games, most recently beating Southampton 3-1 before the international break.
Man City team news
Manchester City are boosted by the return of Rodri, who is expected to start. Phil Foden should return after being sidelined due to illness, following just 45 minutes of play on the opening weekend. However, there is some bad news: Nathan Aké is set to be out of action for an extended period due to a suspected hamstring injury, and Oscar Bobb is sidelined long-term. New signing Savinho will likely return to the squad after missing the 3-1 win at West Ham on August 31st. However, he may not start due to competition from Jérémy Doku and Jack Grealish.
Brentford team news
Josh Dasilva (knee), Rico Henry (knee), Aaron Hickey (thigh), and Igor Thiago (knee) are all injured for Brentford. Kristoffer Ajer (ankle) is doubtful. However, the team has been able to rely on the excellent goal-scoring form of Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, who have collectively scored five goals in the Premier League so far.
Man City vs Brentford head-to-head
Brentford have caused City trouble since their promotion, doing the double over them during the 2022/23 campaign, while they only lost 1-0 on their last trip to the Etihad.
