How to watch Malmo vs Rangers live
Malmo vs Rangers is scheduled for 5:45pm on Thursday 26th September and will be broadcast live on TNT Sports 2.
How both teams go into Malmo vs Rangers
Malmo were absent from Uefa club competition last season and reached this year’s Europa League after being eliminated from the Champions League play-offs by Sparta Prague. The Swedish side qualified has 2023 Allsvenskan champions, their record-extending 26th national title. Henrik Rydstrom’s men are on course to win back-to-back championships and their fourth in five seasons. After 24 matches, Malmo sit 11 points clear of nearest challengers Djurgarden with just six games remaining.
As for Rangers, their question to be Scottish champions once again is five games old. But it’s not all rosy with Philippe Clement’s side in third and five points behind arch-rivals Celtic. They’ve recently suffered a 3-0 humbling in the Old Firm derby, leading to uncomfortable questions being asked. Last season, Rangers were eliminated in the Europa League round of 16 by Portuguese giants Benfica, having started that season in the Champions League play-offs. They once again began in Uefa’s premier tournament this summer but were dumped out by Dynamo Kyiv. And so they find themselves with another opportunity to win this competition, having previously finished runners-up in 2008 and 2002.
Malmo host Rangers at the Eleda Stadium at 5:45pm on Thursday 26th September.
Malmo team news
Malmo will welcome back captain Anders Christiansen after he recovered from an injury. However, their record £1.8 million signing — former Celtic forward Sead Haksabanovic — has not recovered in time and won’t face an Old Firm reunion against Rangers. Niklas Moisander and Oscar Lewicki area also out injured.
Rangers team news
There are a number of lingering injury problems in the Rangers squad (Rıdvan Yılmaz and Nicolas Raskin), with the likes of Danilo and Rabbi Matondo not even included in the Europa League squad this time around.
Malmo vs Rangers head-to-head
All four previous meetings between Malmo and Rangers have come in Champions League qualification. The Swedish side have won three of those four matchups, alongside one draw. But two of those matches were in 2011.
