Luton will be playing their first ever Premier League game at Kenilworth Road on Friday, after their opening home tie against Burnley was postponed. Initially scheduled for the second weekend of the season, Luton have had to wait while work on making Kenilworth Road up to scratch was completed. But now the wait is over and West Ham fans will become the first to walk through the now infamous away entrance (sorry) in the Premier League. It hasn’t been a good return to the top flight for Luton so far, with two defeats from their opening two games. The return after a 31-year wait started with a 4-1 defeat to Brighton before losing 3-0 to Chelsea, both away from home of course.
West Ham, meanwhile, look to have put last season firmly behind them. Although they won the Europa Conference League, West Ham seriously suffered in the league and were battling relegation until very late on in the campaign. However, after three games played this season West Ham are second, still unbeaten and just two points behind leaders Manchester City. The Hammers opened the new season with a draw against Bournemouth that they will have felt upset to draw, having taken the lead. But they bounced back with successive 3-1 wins, first against Chelsea and then Brighton, ending the latter’s perfect start.
