Luton were brought back down to earth in midweek, as just three days after they recorded their first ever Premier League victory with a 2-1 win at Goodison Park, they fell to a late defeat to fellow newly promoted side Burnley. The Hatters thought they had rescued a valuable point after Elijah Adebayo’s 84th minute strike had cancelled out Lyle Foster’s opener, but they were hit by a hammer blow as Jacob Bruun Larsen restored the Clarets’ lead just one minute later.
Tottenham, meanwhile, continued their unbeaten run in the Premier League, with a controversial 2-1 win over Liverpool at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. Despite going down to 9-men due to red cards to Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota, Liverpool looked to have battled to a hard fought point, before Joel Matip put the ball in his own net from a Pedro Porro cross to hand Spurs their first victory over the Reds since October 2017 at Wembley.
The red cards weren’t the main controversy however, with the PGMOL having to apologise to Jurgen Klopp’s side after wrongly ruling Luis Diaz’s first half strike out for offside.
Spurs are one of just two sides yet to taste defeat in the Premier League so far this term and have won 12 of their last 14 Premier League games against promoted sides (D1 L1), already beating Burnley and Sheffield United this season. Another three points here would see them head to the top of the Premier League table, for the time being at least.

Luton vs Tottenham match tip
Tottenham to score over 2.5 goals @ 7/5 with Midnite
Spurs have been such a bigger goal threat under Ange Postecoglou than they were under Antonio Conte, scoring 2+ goals in each of their opening seven Premier League games, while a further two goals here would see the Australian become the first manager to see his team score 2+ goals in his first eight games in charge in the competition.
They have had more shots than any other Premier League side this season (138), with their average of 19.7 shots per game their highest on record in a single campaign (since 1997-98). They’ve had at least 20+ shots in three of their last four league games, as many times as they had done in their previous 28.

Ivan Perisic and Ryan Sessegnon both have long-term injuries, while Rodrigo Bentancur is looking to continue his comeback from his ACL injury after the international break. Manor Solomon picked up a knee injury in training and has also been ruled out for two to three months and joins fellow new signing Brennan Johnson on the treatment table. Bryan Gil has returned to training but this game comes too soon for the Spaniard.
Son Heung-min and James Maddison are both fit to play.
