*Odds correct as of 07:00 on January 12

This game was initially scheduled to take place on Monday, but has been brought forward due to Luton having to face Bolton in a replay of their FA Cup third round tie. It’s an unnecessary added game for Luton, whose main focus will be staying in the Premier League this season. The Hatters are just one point from safety at the halfway stage of their season, with a game in hand over Everton directly above them. Luton recently had a two-game winning streak either side of Christmas, beating Newcastle and Sheffield United, half of their total victories this season. However, they followed that up with a defeat to end 2023 against Chelsea.

Hosts Burnley, meanwhile, are four points behind Luton in 19th, seriously struggling to find their place in the Premier League. Vincent Kompany’s side have won just three times this season, including against Luton in their previous meeting, but they haven’t been able to build on that. That’s been the story of Burnley’s season so far, as they beat Fulham just before Christmas but then lost back-to-back matches against Liverpool and Aston Villa — though they are understandable defeats given the level of opposition.
