After this game was postponed earlier in the season due to the redevelopment of Kenilworth Road, Luton and Burnley finally go head-to-head in the Premier League after both being promoted from the Championship last season.

Luton return to their home ground after making history on Saturday, recording their first ever Premier League win after a 2-1 victory over Everton at Goodison Park. Goals from Tom Lockyer and Carlton Morris secured the Hatters’ first away victory in the top flight in 32 years and in 30 such games (W1, D6, L23) since a 2-1 success at Aston Villa in March 1991.

Burnley meanwhile, made it 10 Premier League games (D2, L8) without a win with a 2-0 defeat to Newcastle at the weekend, as they failed to score in a league game for the third time this season. It’s also just the third time in a top-flight season the Claret’s first five league losses in a campaign have come within their opening six games or fewer (5 games in 1927-28 and 6 games in 2020-21) as they sit second bottom of the Premier League table.

A win here would see Vincent Kompany become the first ever Belgian manager to win a Premier League game.

  • Three of the last five meetings between the two sides have finished level
  • Both sides have scored just nine goals between them so far this season

Luton vs Burnley match tip

HT:Burnley/FT:Draw @ 14/1 with Ladbrokes

Both sides have managed just nine goals between them in the Premier League so far this season, while both of Luton’s home goals this term have been scored in the second half of matches. Burnley’s four have been more evenly split; two in the first half, two in the second. The Clarets seem more likely to go ahead, but Luton should be able to battle back for a draw.

Luton vs Burnley Bet-Builder tip

Under 2.5 goals > BTTS > Over 4.5 Cards

As mentioned, these are two of the worst attacking teams in the league, so don’t expect fireworks, though leaky defences mean they’ll probably both manage a goal. Burnley have proven themselves a little unreliable when it comes to discipline, receiving two red cards already at this early stage. In a blood and thunder match that is key for both teams, they may walk another tightrope.

Luton have only managed one goal from open play this season, the fewest in the Premier League.

Despite both being taken off at the weekend, defenders Tom Lockyer and Reece Burke are both fit to play, however, this game will be too soon for Ross Barkley, who will be hoping to be fit for this weekends match against Spurs after missing the game against his former side Everton at the weekend. Dan Potts, Jordan Clark, Gabriel Osho and Albert Sambi Lokonga remain out.

Lyle Foster Michael Obafemi, Darko Churlinov, Hjalmar Ekdal, Nathan Redmond

Lyle Foster returns from suspension for the visitors, who are likely to be without Michael Obafemi, Darko Churlinov, Johann Gudmundsson, Nathan Redmond and Hjalmar Ekdal. Luca Koleosho has had more touches in the opposition box (18), completed more dribbles (18) and created more chances (7) than any other Burnley player in the Premier League this season, so will keep his place out wide.
