Betting tips
Burnley to win (2/1 with Betfair)
You’d think home advantage would be key in a fixture like this but the opposite is the case. Burnley have won their last four trips to Kenilworth Road and are unbeaten in their past eight against Luton in total.
Luton 1-2 Burnley (10/1 with Bet365)
However, in their four wins over Luton, Burnley have only managed to keep one clean sheet. During the Clarets’ unbeaten run, both teams have scored five times including in the two Premier League meetings last season.
Alfie Doughty to provide an assist (2/1 with Sky Bet)
Last season Alfie Doughty was the creative hub of Luton’s team in the Premier League, providing eight assists. Last season’s top assister in the Championship was a left-back too, with Leif Davis shining for Ipswich as they earned promotion.
Luton host Burnley at Kenilworth Road at 8pm (UK time) on Monday 12th August.
At the start of the year, this was a Premier League clash, and the draw did neither side any favours as they were both relegated back to the Championship. Luton have kept faith in Rob Edwards to lead them back to the Premier League at the first time of asking. The Hatters have had a decent summer too, keeping hold of their key players. They’ve also brought in Shandon Baptiste and Reuell Walters to improve the depth of their squad.
It’s been all change at Burnley, however. Vincent Kompany left at the end of the season, taking over at Bayern Munich. Scott Parker is the man tasked with taking Burnley straight back up to the Premier League, having achieved promotion with both Fulham and Bournemouth previously. The Clarets have said goodbye to goalkeeper Arijanet Muric during the summer, though James Trafford had made the No.1 shirt his own last season.

Burnley latest team news
Burnley operated with a 4-4-2 under Vincent Kompany for most parts but Scott Parker may opt to stick with his favoured 4-2-3-1. The permanent arrival of Mike Tresor will be a boost for Parker as they look to seal an immediate return to the Premier League.
Luton vs Burnley head-to-head
This is a fixture that Burnley have dominated of late, unbeaten in their past eight fixtures against Luton. All four of Burnley’s wins in that time have come away from home too.
