How both teams go into Liverpool vs Bologna
As mentioned, Liverpool started their Champions League campaign with an excellent 3-1 win away at AC Milan. Things have only gotten better from there, with the Reds beating Bournemouth 3-0 in the league and West Ham 5-1 in the EFL Cup. The only blemish on Slot’s record with Liverpool so far was the shock 1-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest, but that very much appears to be the exception rather than something we should come to expect.
As for Bologna, they’ve lost just one of their opening six games of the new season across all competitions. However, it’s been a frustrating start, with four of those matches ending all square. That said, Bologna did pick up their first win of the campaign 2-1 away at Monza last time out and will hope that result can build some momentum.

Alisson has been sidelined recently with a hamstring injury but should already be back in action by the time this game comes around. Harvey Elliott is out until late October at the earliest with a broken foot.

Lewis Ferguson remains sidelined long-term with a ligament injury, while Oussama El Azzouzi and Tommaso Pobega are also unlikely to be fit in time for this match.
