Legia Warsaw vs Chelsea prediction, stats, tips & team news

Chelsea continue their Europa Conference League journey with a trip to the Polish Army Stadium to face Legia Warsaw on Thursday 10th April at 5:45pm.

The Blues are odds-on favourites to win the competition and are still 100% this season. Legia Warsaw will have a huge upset on their minds. This game will be broadcast live on TNT Sports 1.

Chelsea to win and BTTS (9/4 with bet365)

Chelsea have won all eight of their games in the Europa Conference League this season. But the Blues have conceded in three of their four away games so far. This record leads us to thinking that the same thing might happen again here. Chelsea should be too strong for a Legia side that are in fifth place in the Ekstraklasa but the Blues defence has certainly been breached and, with a hostile atmosphere expected, they could find themselves under an early onslaught.

Marc Guiu to score 2+ (12/1 with Sky Bet)

Marc Guiu will be looking to pick up from where he left off following injury. The Spaniard has scored six goals in six games in the Europa Conference League this season and could well be tasked with leading the line for the Blues once again. All six of his goals have come in the Conference League, with the youngster making just three appearances in the Premier League this season.

Legia Warsaw vs Chelsea Odds

How both teams go into Legia Warsaw vs Chelsea

Legia Warsaw are on their deepest run in a European competition since 1995-96, when they reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League. They were in the Europa Conference League last season but fell in the knockout phase play-offs. Legia Warsaw skipped that round this time, thanks to a seventh-placed finish in the group stage. The Polish side won four and lost two of their six matches, boasting the joint-best defence in the group stage conceding five goals. Legia Warsaw conceded three goals in the last 16, needing extra-time in the second leg to beat Molde 4-3.

Domestically, Legia has struggled to compete with the teams at the very top and currently sit in fifth, 12 points behind the leaders. Their recent form has been indifferent, with two wins, two draws and a loss coming in their last five games and their qualification to Europe next season is in real jeopardy, leaving winning the Conference League as their best hope of competing in Europe again next season.

Chelsea are expected to win the Europa Conference League this season, and many will see it as a failure in they don’t. The Blues are on course to do so at the moment, still perfect. They won all six of their group games to finish top, with the most goals and joint-fewest conceded. Chelsea still had a tough match in the last 16, edging past Danish side FC Copenhagen 3-1 on aggregate. The Blues will keep an eye on this as it could be their best route to European football next season.

The Blues are currently in fourth place in the Premier League, leading the chasing pack but there are just six points between them and ninth placed Brighton. The tight nature of the race for the top four means that Chelsea will need to keep one eye on their domestic form, whilst also ensuring they do what is expected of them in Europe.
