Betting tips
Leeds 2-0 Portsmouth (6/1 with BetUK)
Leeds went unbeaten in their first 21 home games in the Championship last season.
Daniel James to score anytime (23/10 with Unibet)
Daniel James scored 13 goals in the Championship last season, with only Crysencio Summerville (20) and Joel Piroe (14) managing more for Leeds. The Welshman averaged 1.21 shots on target per 90 minutes.
Leeds to win to nil (7/5 with Star Sports)
Leeds kept a clean sheet in 10 of their opening 21 Championship home matches, including eight wins to nil.
After play-off final heartbreak at the hands of Portsmouth’s rivals Southampton in May, Leeds will be hoping that it will be second time lucky in 2024/25 as they look for automatic promotion back to the Premier League.
The Whites finished the previous campaign in third, six points behind Ipswich after just one win from their final six matches ended their chances returning to the top flight at the first time of asking. Daniel Farke has been given the chance to guide them back to the promised land once again, but with a host of players leaving it may be a much tougher job this time around.
They begin the campaign with a home tie against promoted Portsmouth however, in a game that they are expected to win and get off to the perfect start. The Blues won’t make it easy however as they look to build on their title winning campaign under John Mousinho in League One last season and make the most of their first appearance in the Championship in 12 years.
It’s been a long road back for Pompey, who fell from the dizzying heights of the Premier League in 2010 all the way down to League Two and now back up to the second division of English football again. However, under Mousinho, the side from the South Coast look to be a force once again, playing entertaining football as they like Leeds, aim to return to the top flight.
Leeds host Portsmouth at Elland Road on Saturday 10th August at 12:30pm.

Leeds team news
After last season’s failure to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking, Leeds have once again been forced to either sell or loan out their top players. Archie Gray, Crysensio Summerville and Luis Sinisterra are just some of the players to leave Leeds this summer.
There have been incomings however, with Joe Rodon making his move to the club permanent after spending last season on loan. Joe Rothwell, Jayden Bogle and Alex Cairns have also signed.
Daniel Farke has once again been trusted with gaining the Yorkshire giants promotion and should stick to his 4-2-3-1 formation that worked well last campaign.
Portsmouth team news
Pompey have been busy in the transfer market, with nine new additions to their squad. However, they only paid a fee for Elias Sorensen, with the likes of Matt Ritchie, Josh Murphy, Jordan Williams, Jordan Archer and Andre Dozzell being free transfers among others.
Joe Morrell has left the club, so there will be a fight for who partners captain Marlon Pack in midfield. Kusini Yengi is expected to start the season up top after Portsmouth revealed that Colby Bishop needs minor heart surgery.
Leeds vs Portsmouth head-to-head
This will be the first meeting between these two sides in 14 years. Three of the previous four matches involving these two teams have finished level, including the last head-to-head at Fratton Park which was goalless.
