Juventus vs Roma Serie A prediction: Can the Old Lady maintain their perfect start?

Serie A leaders Juventus will aim to maintain their perfect start as they welcome Roma for matchday three.

Three predictions for Juventus vs Roma

Juventus 1-0 Roma (6/1 with Star Sports)

Six out of the last ten games between Juventus and Roma in Turin have ended 1-0.

Dusan Vlahovic to score anytime (5/4 with SkyBet)

Dusan Vlahovic is the top scorer in Serie A in 2024 (12 goals), followed by Paulo Dybala, Teun Koopmeiners, Lautaro Martínez and Duván Zapata (each at nine). Vlahovic has also scored at least two goals in 18 different games in the competition, a record in Serie A across the last six seasons (since 2019/20).

Juventus to keep a clean sheet (13/10 with Star Sports)

In the last three matches, Juventus have not conceded any goals.

How both teams go into Juventus vs Roma

With an impressive six goals, two clean sheets, and maximum points in the Serie A season so far, Juventus has swiftly climbed to the top of the standings, ahead of archrivals and defending champions Inter Milan. Following their 3-0 victory against Como on the opening matchday, Thiago Motta’s team defeated Hellas Verona, who had just beaten Napoli. It’s noteworthy that Juventus has excelled not only in attack but also in defence, conceding the fewest shots on target across Europe’s top five leagues: only one, in the last match against Hellas Verona. In addition, only Torino have lost fewer possessions (175) than the Bianconeri (185) among the teams with at least two games played.

Despite finishing the last season poorly, club legend Daniele De Rossi was made Roma’s permanent manager. However, it’s not been the best of starts. Roma began with a draw against Cagliari before suffering a surprising loss at home to Empoli last week. In their last five Serie A games, they have lost three and won one, drawing one. This comes after having lost only one game in the previous 11, with six wins and four draws. Additionally, they could fail to win any of their first three Serie A games for the second season in a row, which has only happened once in their history before (between 2010/11 and 2011/12).

Juventus host Roma at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday at 7:45pm.

Juventus latest team news

Thiago Motta will be able to utilise new signings Teun Koopmeiners, Sergio Conceicao, and Nico Gonzalez this weekend. However, Timothy Weah and Khephren Thuram are both unavailable due to injury. Federico Chiesa has departed to Liverpool, and centre-back Tiago Djalo is expected to sign for their opponents on Sunday. This comes after their preferred target, Kevin Danso, failed a medical earlier this week.

Roma latest team news

It is uncertain whether another former Juventus player, Matias Soule, will retain his position, but Paulo Dybala is expected to play alongside Artem Dovbyk in the attacking third. Tammy Abraham is set to join AC Milan in exchange for Alexis Saelemaekers. In other news, new right-back, Saud Abdulhamid, will be competing with Zeki Celik for a spot in the defence. The only player missing from Roma is French midfielder Enzo Le Fee.

Juventus vs Roma head-to-head

Only against Inter have Juventus played more matches (182) and collected more wins (87) than against Roma in Serie A: 180 matches played so far against the Giallorossi, for a record of 86 wins, 42 defeats and 52 draws.
