Ipswich vs Man United

The Ruben Amorim era gets underway as Manchester United travel to Portman Road to face Ipswich Town at 4:30pm on Sunday 24th November. Ruud van Nistelrooy initially steadied the ship after Erik ten Hag’s sacking, but Man United remain 13th in the Premier League. Ipswich sit just outside the relegation zone ahead of this game set to be broadcast live on Sky Sports Premier League.

Amad Diallo over 0.5 tackles & Liam Delap over 0.5 fouls (1/3 with Sky Bet)

There is a lot of unknowns around Amorim’s lineup for Sunday evening, but one thing that’s highly likely is Amad Diallo starting in that right sided ten role. He has been arguably United’s best player under Ruud van Nistelrooy’s managerial stint and I think that will continue under Amorim who will look to get the best out of him.

His defensive output has been great for United, his tackle numbers are exceptional for a winger. He has now made a tackle in eleven of his last thirteen starts, with multiple tackles off the bench in ten minute cameos. He is averaging over 2.5 tackles per 90 this season and picked up five tackles in his last two starts. He will be keen to continue impressing.

This is paired this with the Ipswich striker Liam Delap for a foul on Sunday due to him being an absolute menace.

The England u21 has been on a fouling tear this season, fouling in sixteen of his last seventeen appearances for club and country. His last Premier League start saw him make a whopping five fouls against Spurs, making two or more fouls in his three games previous too.

Amad Diallo over 1.5 tackles & Liam Delap over 1.5 fouls (2/1 with Sky Bet)

Normally I like to give another angle all together on these articles, but the higher lines look too appealing for me to ignore.

Continuing with Delap, in his last thirteen starts for club and country, he has made multiple fouls on eight occasions, seeing him actually register three or more six times, absolutely ridiculous numbers, but does also explain why he has been booked seven times already this season (10/3 with Bet365).

With Diallo averaging over 2.5 tackles per 90, if he can get some good minutes under Amorim, this 5/1 has some real legs.

Four of his last six starts have seen him pick up two or more tackles, and likely playing the right sided ten role, it could see him involved even more.

How both teams go into Ipswich vs Man United

All eyes will be on this game to see how Amorim fares. The Portuguese manager is highly regarded, having led Sporting CP to two Primeira Liga titles. He also left them top of the league this season. But Man United are in a difficult place right now. The Red Devils have endured a tough start to the new season, with just four wins from their opening 11 games. They’ve also lost four times. But, despite sitting 13th, Man United are just four points outside the top four. So they are in no way out of the race for European football.

At the other end of the table, Ipswich will be looking to build on their first league win of the season. The Tractor Boys beat Tottenham Hotspur before the international break, their first Premier League win in over 20 years. It lifted them out of the relegation zone, albeit only by one point. Ipswich have had an interesting return to the Premier League, only losing one game more than Man United, with five draws.
