Hoffenheim vs Tottenham prediction, odds, tips & team news

Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping to bolster their hopes of automatic qualification to the Europa League last 16 when they travel to face Hoffenheim at 5:45pm (UK time) on Thursday 23rd January.
Ange Postecoglou is fighting tooth and nail to keep his job at the moment, but his men are outside the Europa League automatic qualification spots on goal difference.
Meanwhile Hoffenheim are struggling in the Bundesliga and they’re also in the bottom 12 in this competition’s table. This game at the PreZero Arena will be broadcast live in the UK on TNT Sports 2.
Hoffenheim to score the first goal (1/1 with Paddy Power)
One of the main issues for Tottenham at the moment is how slow they have been starting games. The Lilywhites have conceded in each of their last two away games in the Europa League and they’ve been behind at the break in each of their last three Premier League fixtures, having slumped to a 3-0 first-half scoreline at Everton on Sunday. Hoffenheim have endured their own struggles of late, but they were 0-2 up by half-time in their 1-3 win over Holstein Kiel in the Bundesliga over the weekend.
Pedro Porro over 2.5 shots (13/8 with Sky Bet)
Tottenham’s attacking full-back Pedro Porro has played four times in the Europa League this season and across those four games, the 25 year old has racked up an average of 2.3 shots per 90 minutes. With Spurs missing a few key attacking players in this game, they may need the likes of Porro to support their frontline and against a leaky Hoffenheim defence, the Spaniard can be backed to attempt a few long-range efforts at goal in Germany.

Hoffenheim vs Tottenham Odds
How both teams go into Hoffenheim vs Tottenham
With two games left to play in the Europa League league phase, Tottenham are in a decent position. The north London club are ninth in the table, with 11 points from their opening six games. They’ve won three of their six matches, drawing two and losing one. It leaves them behind eighth-placed Rangers on goal difference. However, recent form has been very poor for Ange Postecoglou’s men. After the defeat to Everton at the weekend, the Lilywhites have now lost five of their last eight in all competitions and sit 15th in the Premier League table.
Tottenham may be confident going into this game, though, with Hoffenheim not doing too well in the Europa League. The German side have won just one of their six Europa League games so far, and sit one point outside the knockout play-off places. They need to climb the table or their European journey will be ending soon. They picked up a much-needed win against Holstein Kiel in the Bundesliga over the weekend but Die Kraichgauer had gone nine games without a victory prior to that 1-3 reverse.
Hoffenheim team news
Christopher Lenz, Florian Grillitsch, Umut Tohumcu, Grischa Promel, Marius Bulter, Max Moerstedt and Ihlas Bebou are all set to miss out for a Hoffenheim side that are almost as injury-stricken as Tottenham.
Tottenham team news
Antonin Kinsky will be unable to feature in this game, with no squad changes allowed until after the completion of the league phase. Guglielmo Vicario remains injured, so Fraser Forster should start in goal. Spurs’ injury list makes for grim reading, with Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Dominic Solanke, Destiny Udogie, Brennan Johnson, Timo Werner and Yves Bissouma among those missing out.
