Greece vs Republic of Ireland prediction and stats: Will Ireland end Greek curse?
Greece and the Republic of Ireland will face off in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday. Both teams picked up positive results on Thursday, and we’ve got Anthony Eadson on hand to preview the match and provide us with his best bets.
Two Greece vs Republic of Ireland predictions
Jason Knight and Vangelis Pavlidis 1+ Foul Committed (11/10 with Paddy Power)
Jason Knight should line up in the centre of midfield for the Republic of Ireland. The Bristol City man gave away two fouls in the win over Finland on Thursday and looks a little overpriced to clear the 1+ line against Greece. Knight has given away 2+ fouls in both of his last two internationals and four of his previous six for club and country.
Paired with Knight to give away 1+ foul is Vangelis Pavlidis. The attacker was in the middle of everything against England and put in a superb showing. Pavlidis committed two fouls against the Three Lions and averages 1 foul per game for Benfica this season.
Robbie Brady to Score Anytime (20/1 with Sky Bet)
Robbie Brady may now be 32, but he is still making an impact for his national side and popped up with the winning goal for the Republic of Ireland against Finland on Thursday. Brady let off three shots in that game and also managed an assist in what was an excellent performance. He may not take up quite an as attacking role as he used to in previous years, but at 20/1 to find the net anytime, he looks a juicy price with Sky Bet for a small punt.

How both teams go into Greece vs Republic of Ireland
Greece made the perfect start to their Nations League campaign last month, beating both Ireland and Finland by a 5-0 combined scoreline. Ivan Jovanovic’s side are a formidable defensive unit right now, and pulled off one of their biggest results of the decade by beating England 2-1 on Thursday at Wembley.
By contrast, Ireland’s start couldn’t have gone much worse, first losing 2-0 to England thanks to goals from ex-Boys in Green Declan Rice and Jack Grealish, followed by a loss to Greece by the same scoreline, both at home. Heimir Hallgrimsson’s side did however pull off an excellent 2-1 win away in Helsinki on Thursday and will arrive in Greece buoyed by Robbie Brady’s 88th minute winner.
