Greece vs England prediction, stats, tips & team news: Will England gain ground on Greece in Group B2?

Greece vs England prediction, stats, tips & team news

England will be hoping for a bit of revenge when they travel to Greece in the Uefa Nations League on Thursday 14th November at 7:45pm (UK time).

The Three Lions fell to a 2-1 defeat at Wembley in October, which leaves them second in Group B2 with two games left to play. Only top spot will guarantee automatic promotion to League A. This game will be broadcast live in the UK on ITV1 and is Lee Carsley’s penultimate match as interim manager before Thomas Tuchel takes charge.

Over 1.5 Greece goals (3/1 with BoyleSports)

Greece have scored at least two goals in all four of their Uefa Nations League games this year, being on of the most proficient sides in the competition this year. They managed to score twice against England at Wembley in the reverse fixture, whilst England have conceded two or more against their opposition in two of the last three meetings between the nations.

Draw and BTTS (15/4 with BoyleSports)

England are the only team to have scored against Greece in the Uefa Nations League this year but Greece are unbeaten in their past five home games. This puts the onus on England and, with so many withdrawals from the England squad, they might find it difficult to get across the line in what should be a rabid atmosphere.

How both teams go into Greece vs England

Greece weren’t given much of a chance ahead of their trip to Wembley last month, but they should have been. Ivan Jovanovic’s side are perfect in the Uefa Nations League this year, winning all of their four games. They’ve only conceded one goal, to Jude Bellingham at Wembley. Since a 2-1 defeat to Germany in June, Greece have won five consecutive matches. At home, they’re unbeaten in five games, including a draw with France at the tail end of 2023.

Despite reaching the Euro 2024 final, England have had a strange year. They’ve won seven of their 15 games across all competitions, with three of those coming in the Uefa Nations League. They’ve lost four at the same time, with three defeats coming at home. Of course one of those losses did come against Greece, which leaves England trailing their opponents by three points. Tuchel has been announced as new England manager but won’t take charge until the new year. You can bet he’ll be watching on though, hoping automatic promotion is achieved across these next two matches.

Greece team news

Dimitrios Kourbelis is in the squad but will have to sit this game out, suspended for an accumulation of yellow cards. But they will be able to call upon Konstantinos Koulierakis who was suspended for their win over Republic of Ireland.

England team news

There have been a huge number of withdrawals from the England squad with no less than eight players leaving the England camp. Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, Levi Colwill, Cole Palmer, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Aaron Ramsdale have all left the squad with Morgan Rogers, Jarrod Bowen, Jarrad Branthwaite, Tino Livramento and James Trafford taking their place.

Greece vs England head-to-head

Greece’s victory over England at Wembley last time out was their first ever win in this fixture. England had won seven of the previous nine meetings.
