Gibraltar vs Scotland prediction: Easy win predicted for Steve Clarke’s side
Scotland gear up for Euro 2024 looking to gain confidence with a friendly game away at Gibraltar.
Gibraltar vs Scotland International friendly prediction: Easy win for Steve Clarke’s side
Gibraltar vs Scotland Latest Prediction
Scotland head to Portugal to face Gibraltar in the first of their two international friendlies before they head to Euro 2024.
Steve Clarke’s side have been drawn in Group A alongside Germany, Hungary and Switzerland after finishing as runners-up in qualifying behind Spain, losing just one of their eight matches. The Tartan Army have the toughest possible start to the tournament against hosts Germany in the opening match, but will be determined to cause an upset and put in a better showing than they did at Euro 2020, where they picked up just one point and were knocked out in the group stages.
After a positive qualifying campaign, the walls have fallen off slightly, having failed to win any of their last seven international games (D2 L5) but should put that right against whipping boys Gibraltar. This is the exact fixture that Steve Clarke’s men need building up to the tournament as they can build some confidence, score some goals and be in the right frame of mind before they take on Germany on the 14th June.

Gibraltar vs Scotland match tip
Handicap: Scotland -4 @ 9/5 by BoyleSports
Scotland don’t go into this game in good form at all, winless in their past seven matches since securing qualification for Euro 2024. However, they have a very good record against Gibraltar. In two matches against Gibraltar, Scotland have scored 12 goals and conceded just once. Only Poland, Belgium and France average more goals per game against Gibraltar than Scotland.
Gibraltar vs Scotland odds
As you’d expect, Scotland are heavy favourites for this one. Although Gibraltar are by no means San Marino, they are among the worst teams in the world per the FIFA world rankings. They current sit 201st in the world, just 10 ahead of San Marino, having won just eight of their 86 official matches.
Gibraltar Latest Team News
Gibraltar will have to make a few changes from the side that lost 1-0 to Lithuania back in March, with neither Niels Hartman or Ethan Britto included in the squad to face Scotland.
Tjay De Barr will be hoping to keep his place up front but 42-year-old Lee Casciaro and Jamie Coombes will both be hoping for a start. In defence, Roy Chipolina is also missing, so we could see young Tyler Carrington given a chance at centre-back alongside Bernardo Lopes. Dayle Coleing will likely start in goal in the absence of Bradley Banda.
Scotland Latest Team News
Steve Clarke won’t be expected to make too many changes from their 1-0 defeat to Northern Ireland in March.
Nathan Patterson has been ruled out due to injury, so Anthony Ralston is likely to start as right-wing-back, with Andrew Robertson on the left. They will play alongside Kieran Tierney, Liam Cooper and Jack Hendry, although Ryan Porteous and John Souttar are both available. Lyndon Dykes was expected to lead the line but he has now been ruled out of this game, and Euro 2024, due to injury. Clarke is yet to name his replacement in the squad, but Che Adams should be the favourite to replace him in this XI.
Scott McTominay, who top scored for Scotland in qualifying with seven goals, can play anywhere in midfield, but once again sit deep alongside Brighton’s Billy Gilmour with John McGinn and Ryan Christie in more attacking spaces.
Gibraltar vs Scotland Head to Head
This will be just the third meeting between the two countries with Scotland scoring 6+ goals in both European Championship qualifiers back in 2015.
