Germany vs Denmark Euro 2024 prediction: Danes out to squash hosts’ summer fairytale
Germany vs Denmark Latest Prediction
Germany are in the knockout stages of the European Championship for the five consecutive tournament, and they went through as Group A winners. However, it could have been different. In their final group match, Germany snatched a draw from the jaws of defeat thanks to Niclas Fullkrug coming off the bench to score a late equaliser against Switzerland.
Not only did the goal extend Germany’s unbeaten run across all competitions to seven games, but it also saw Die Mannschaft stay two points clear of second-placed Switzerland. History isn’t on Germany’s side at the moment, though. Their last two knockout matches have both ended in 2-0 defeats, with Germany beaten by France at the Euro 2016 semi-finals and England in the Euro 2020 last 16.
Denmark are also in consecutive knockout stages at the European Championship, but this is a first. Never before had the Danes reached knockout stages in back to back European Championships, having reached the semi-finals at Euro 2020. Denmark finished second in their group in what was a pretty turgid affair.
Kasper Hjulmand’s men drew all three of their group games, scoring just twice. Their final game was a goalless draw against Serbia to secure their spot, finishing ahead of second-placed Slovenia on their disciplinary record. Despite reached the semi-finals of Euro 2020, Denmark have only won three of their nine knockout matches at the European Championship, with two coming last time out.
The showdown between Germany and Denmark takes place at 8pm on Saturday 29th June at the BVB Stadion in Dortmund.
Jamal Musiala and Niclas Fullkrug are joint-top scorers for Germany at Euro 2024 so far, with both players netting twice. Musiala is on a decent run of form for Germany. The Bayern Munich man has either scored or assisted in five of his last nine appearances for Germany, with three goals and two assists.

Germany latest team news
Julian Nagelsmann was dealt a major blow when Jonathan Tah received his second yellow card of the competition against Switzerland, meaning he will sit this game out through suspension. Borussia Dortmund centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck will likely replace him in Germany’s starting lineup alongside Antonio Rüdiger, who is reportedly doubtful. The rest of Germany’s XI should be unchanged.
Denmark latest team news
It’s been pretty much the same lineup for Denmark so far in Germany, though Morten Hjulmand will not be part of the team on Saturday evening. The midfielder is serving a one-game ban after picking up a second yellow in their stalemate with Serbia. The expectation is that Thomas Delaney will replace the Sporting CP midfielder in Kasper Hjulmand’s starting XI.
