France vs Poland Euro 2024 Prediction: Les Bleus look to secure top spot in Group D
France vs Poland Latest Prediction
Didier Deschamps’ quest for European Championship glory can move one step closer when they face off against Poland in their final group game.
Les Bleus have only failed to make it out of the group stages in just one of their last six appearances at the European Championships, when they finished bottom of a group that consisted of Italy, the Netherlands and Romania in 2008, and will be confident of putting their 2022 World Cup final defeat firmly behind them with glory in Germany.
Things haven’t exactly got going yet, however, with a Max Wober own goal their only strike in two games at the tournament so far, while having to deal without Kylian Mbappe in their 0-0 draw with the Netherlands. France sit level on four points with Oranje and is now guaranteed a place in the knockout phase (after Spain beat Albania 1-0 a day before kick-off, ensuring they would, at least, be one of the four best third-placed teams). However, Deschamps’ side are in desperate need of a statement victory.
Next up is a Poland side who they are unbeaten against in the last eight head-to-head meetings (W4 D4), including a 3-1 victory in the last 16 in Qatar on their way to the final. What’s more, with 2-1 and 3-1 defeats to the Netherlands and Austria, respectively, Poland became the first side to suffer elimination from the tournament. Will that free them up for a glorious finish against France or will they head back over the border with a whimper?
The showdown between France and Poland occurs on June 25 at Signal Iduna Park, kicking off at 5pm (UK time).
Marcus Thuram will hope to be involved in the action again in this game having been one of the few France players to look like a real attacking threat in their opening two games of the tournament, letting off seven shots so far.
The Inter Milan forward isn’t shy of a foul either, comitting three in his opening two games of the tournament and averaging one per game in Serie A so far this season.

France Latest Team News
It remains to be seen whether or not Kylian Mbappe will return to the starting line-up as he continues to recover from a broken nose. The newly-signed Real Madrid man sat out the draw with the Netherlands — which was probably smart choice anyway after being booked in the first match — and may only be used here if France fall behind and need a goal. Marcus Thuram disappointed against the Netherlands, but his pace may prove too important to drop in the absence of Mbappe.
One of the standout players at the tournament so far has been a resurgent N’Golo Kante, who has rolled back the years with some energetic displays.
Poland Latest Team News
Although Poland are already out, we may well see them field their strongest possible starting XI in a bid to restore some pride and make sure France have to work for a result. What’s more, Robert Lewandowski has played just 30 minutes at these Euros. At 35 years old, who knows whether or not this will be his final major tournament appearance, so he’ll want to leave his mark.
France vs Poland Head to Head
Games between these two nations tend to be close, but Poland have failed to win any of the previous eight head-to-head meetings (D4 L4). Les Bleus came out on top at the 2022 World Cup, winning 3-1 thanks to goals from Olivier Giroud and Kylian Mbappe (2) in the last 16.
