France vs Croatia predictions, odds, betting tips and team news

France host Croatia in the second leg of their UEFA Nations League quarter-final tie on Sunday 23 March, at 7:45 pm (UK time). Croatia hold a 2-0 lead heading into the second leg.

BTTS Yes (10/11 with Betfred)

Both teams have scored in eight of the last 12 UEFA Nations League matches that Croatia have featured in. France finished top of their group to progress to the quarter-finals but they failed to keep a clean sheet in five of their last seven matches, failing to shut out Italy twice, Belgium and Israel.

Eduardo Camavinga to be Carded first (9/1 with bet365)

Eduardo Camavinga returned from suspension for the first leg clash with Croatia. At 9/1, he looks a little overpriced to pick up a card first, considering his recent disciplinary record for his national side where he’s accumulated two cards in his last four nations for the national side.

How both teams go into France vs Croatia

Croatia joined group winners Portugal in advancing from Group A1, while Scotland narrowly missed out on reaching the quarter-finals despite securing a late win in Warsaw. Joško Gvardiol’s second-half header equalised João Félix’s opener, earning Croatia a 1–1 draw with Portugal in Split and confirming their status as runners-up.

This UEFA Nations League campaign has not been particularly memorable for Croatia, as they accumulated only eight points from a possible 18 (with two wins, two draws, and two losses). They went three consecutive Nations League matches without a win (1–1 against Portugal, 0–1 against Scotland, and 3–3 with Poland). Zlatko Dalić’s side were the beaten finalists in the previous edition and will be striving to reach the semi-finals this time and go one better and are in a good position to progress following their 2-0 first leg victory.

Meanwhile, two goals from Adrien Rabiot made the difference as France avenged their 3-1 home loss to Italy on Matchday 1 with a 3-1 victory in Milan. This result secured top spot in the group for Les Bleus. Although both teams had already qualified for the quarter-finals, achieving first place in the group was still important. To leapfrog Italy, who had won 3-1 in the previous meeting, France needed to match that two-goal margin to improve their goal difference. Les Bleus accomplished just that. France were the second team ever to win the Nations League, having triumphed over Spain in the finals of the 2020-21 finals.

Croatia team news

Due to injury, Igor Matanović has dropped out for Croatia, who named four players with over 100 caps to face France, with skipper Luka Modrić (184) leading the way. Ivan Perišić (140), not far behind Modrić in terms of appearances, has the most goals (33) in Zlatko Dalić’s squad.

France team news

Kylian Mbappé is expected to retain his place following his return in the first leg. Eduardo Camavinga and Ousmane Dembélé should also feature, with the former returning from suspension. Deschamps also has a selection headache at left-back, with Theo Hernandez and Lucas Digne battling to start, with Digne likely to get the nod.

France vs Croatia head-to-head

This will be the fifth UEFA Nations League meeting between France and Croatia. The last meeting saw Croatia snap a nine-game winless run against Les Bleus (six losses and three draws).
