France vs Chile match tip
Handicap: France -2 @ 2/1 by 10bet
France may have lost to Germany at the weekend, but Les Bleus have generally been good at home in friendlies. Since June 2021, France have played six friendlies at home, winning five with the sole defeat coming against Germany last time out. Four of those wins have been by a margin of at least three goals too, beating Wales and Bulgaria 3-0, South Africa 5-0 and Scotland 4-1.
Missing Griez
Playmaking architect Antoine Griezmann was a notable absentee from the French side that had lost to Germany. He left Deschamps’ squad due to an ongoing ankle injury, ending his 84-match streak of consecutive games for France. It quickly became apparent during the contest that France lacked their usual fluency in attack, with link man Griezmann missing.
“I didn’t need this game to know the importance of Antoine, but if he’d been here, it would still have been a difficult game”, Deschamps told reporters.
“He’s an essential part of the team, but we were lacking in many areas, making it difficult at the highest level.”
Griezmann, France’s record holder for assists (38), has been in sensational form with Atlético Madrid, which has often translated into the international arena. He will continue to be sidelined when Chile visits Marseille, meaning others must step up.
France vs Chile odds
Despite their recent setback against Germany, and with some key players ruled out, the French remain a formidable proposition on home soil. Furthermore, their South American guests haven’t been the best travellers of late, winning just one of their last 11 away games, albeit in Chile’s most recent outing.
