France vs Belgium prediction and stats: Can Red Devils get revenge following EURO 2024 exit?
Belgium will be hoping for revenge when they continue their Nations League campaign with a trip to face World Cup runners-up France.
Les Bleus knocked Belgium out of EURO 2024 in the last 16 thanks to an 85th minute own goal from Jan Vertonghen. But can the Red Devils get their revenge when the two sides face-off in the Nations League?
Three France vs Belgium predictions
France 2-0 Belgium
France have won each of their last three competitive games against the Red Devils, including a 3-2 win in the Nations League semi-finals when they came back from 2-0 down.
Kylian Mbappe First Goalscorer
Despite a disappointing EURO 2024 campaign where his only goal came from the penalty spot, Kylian Mbappe is closing in on becoming the top goalscorer in the nations history for the men’s side. The Real Madrid man needs just two more goals to become just the third player to score 50+ goals for Les Bleus after Olivier Giroud and Thierry Henry.
France To Win To Nil
Both sides struggled for goals at EURO 2024, but France should edge this game like they did in their last 16 win back in July. The Red Devils have failed to score in three of their last four matches, while none of their six games have seen both teams score.

How to watch France vs Belgium live
France vs Belgium is scheduled for 7:45pm (UK time) on Monday 9th September and will be shown in the UK on Premier Sports.
How both teams go into France vs Belgium
2021 champions France will be hoping to regain their Nations League crown after falling to a 3-1 loss against Italy in their opening match.
Les Bleus struggled in Group A1, picking up just five points from their six matches and finishing third behind Croatia and Denmark. Didier Deschamps’ men will also be hoping to get back on track after a disappointing performance at EURO 2024 against the side they beat in the 2021 semi-finals in Belgium.
After finishing runners-up to Austria in the group stages in Germany, France made it all the way to the semi-final stage where they were knocked out by eventual champions Spain, but they were never convincing along the way. Despite being strong defensively, it took France 87 non penalty attempts to score their first goal from open play at EURO 2024, with that strike coming in the aforementioned match against the champions.
Belgium meanwhile, also had their problems in front of goal, scoring just two goals in their four matches before being knocked out by France themselves in the last 16. A 85th minute own goal from Jan Vertonghen saw what is likely the last chance for the Golden Generation to win a major international tournament end.
Belgium got their Nations League campaign off to a winning start with a 3-1 win over Israel on Friday evening. They’ll be looking to build on that when they arrive in Lyon on Monday evening.
The Red Devils will be hoping to reach the semi-finals of the Nations League like they did in 2021, again falling to France 3-2 despite being 2-0 up. Last time around they were knocked out in the group stages after finishing as runners-up to the Netherlands and will be hoping to put things right this time around and make it to the final four once again.
France host Belgium at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais on Monday 9th September at 7:45pm (UK time).
France team news
Didier Deschamp named his squad for the two opening matches of the Nations League campaign, with Kylian Mbappe being the obvious name to draw attention. Ferland Mendy, Wesley Fofana and Aurélien Tchouaméni all picked up injuries against Italy and won’t feature.
Belgium team news
Romelu Lukaku was the shock omission from the Belgian squad when it was announced but seasoned regulars Kevin De Bruyne and Youri Tielemans remain.
France vs Belgium head-to-head
France have won each of the last three competitive meetings between the two sides, knocking Belgium out of EURO 2024 in the last 16 earlier this year.
