The stats behind our Fenerbahce vs Olympiacos predictions:

  • Olympiacos have scored in 13 of their last 14 games across all competitions.
  • Olympiacos have scored three goals in two of their three games against Fenerbahce.
  • Ayoub El Kaabi has scored five goals in five Europe Conference League appearances this season.

Will Fenerbahce make the most of their home advantage?

The build-up to the first leg was littered with controversy, as Fenerbahce forfeited the Turkish Super Cup against Galatasaray — walking off in the second minute — in protest at the game not being moved. Fenerbahce wanted the weekend off to prioritise the Europa Conference League tie against Olympiacos, but were denied by the Turkish Football Federation.

To make it all worse, Fenerbahce went on to lose the first leg, trailing 3-0 at one point. However, now they are back on home turf, the Turkish side will be confident. Fenerbahce have lost just two of their 24 home games across all competitions this season, with one of those being a 1-0 defeat to Union-SG in the Europa Conference League when the Turkish side were already 3-0 up on aggregate.

However, at the same time, Olympiacos will look to draw on their recent record in Turkey. The Greek side have won three and lost three of their past six away games against Turkish opposition in European competition, but they have won each of their past two. They are also the only Greek side to beat Fenerbahce away from home in European competition.

This season, Olympiacos have won each of their two away Europa Conference League matches, beating Ferencvarosi 1-0 and Maccabi Tel Aviv 6-1 after extra time. History is also on their side, with Olympiacos having progressed from 16 of their last 21 two-legged major European ties when winning the first match. Fenerbahce have never advanced after losing the first leg, being eliminated 24 times.

Fenerbahce vs Olympiacos match tip

Over 2.5 away goals @ 8/1 by Bet365

Fenerbahce are quite good at home, but last week showed this is a fixture that can produce goals. And that shines in Olympiacos’ favour. The Greek side have scored seven goals in their past three games against Fenerbahce, including three in their only other visit to the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium.

Fenerbahce are the odds-on favourites for this game, and it’s pretty easy to see why with their solid home form. However, it is a bit of a surprise to see the difference so vast between them winning and Olympiacos. The Greek side showed what they are capable of in the first leg, and are the slight favourites to qualify.
