After narrowly avoiding the drop in each of the last two seasons, it looks like another relegation battle for the Toffees in 2023/24 after picking up just a single point from their opening five games – a 2-2 draw with Sheffield United, although things have looked up in recent weeks. After becoming just the third side to win away at Brentford in the Premier League since the start of last season after Arsenal and Newcastle, Sean Dyche’s side made it back-to-back wins across all competitions, with an impressive 2-1 win at Villa Park in the EFL Cup.

Luton, meanwhile, have really struggled to adapt to life in the top flight, losing each of their opening four matches against Brighton, Chelsea, West Ham and Fulham, becoming just the second side to lose each of their first four Premier League matches after Swindon in 1993/94. The Hatters have already lost more matches in the Premier League (4/4) than they did in 25 Championship games (excluding the play-offs) under manager Rob Edwards last season (3) and are the only side in the division yet to go in front this campaign.

However, the Hatters did pick up their first Premier League point last time out against 10-man Wolves, with a Carlton Morris penalty cancelling out Pedro Neto’s opener.

Everton vs Luton Town match tip

Under 2.5 goals & BTTS: No @ 11/10 with Paddy Power

The two sides are two of the five lowest scoring teams in the Premier League so far, managing just eight goals between them. The Hatters have scored just one goal in their three league matches away from home so far in 2023/24, failing to score in their last two. Luton Town are the only Premier League side yet to take the lead in a Premier League match this season, with their three goals all coming in different games when they were trailing.

Everton vs Luton Town Bet-Builder tip

Everton to win to nil > Under 2.5 Goals > Everton 15+ shots

Luton are one of just two sides in Premier League history to lose their opening four matches in their first season in the competition and have found the back of the net just once in their three games away from home. Despite not scoring many this season, the Toffees have have had 42 shots in their three league games at Goodison Park, having 19 vs Fulham and 15 vs Wolves.

The Toffees are averaging 14.2 shots per game in the Premier League this season (85 in 6 games), their highest average in a season since 2013-14 under Roberto Martinez (14.8). Last season, they were averaging 11.3 per game.
