Nothing can be settled in Group C on matchday seven, but a win for England here would all but confirm their place at Euro 2024. Gareth Southgate’s side are currently on a seven game unbeaten run including friendlies, having beaten a spirited Australia side 1-0 at Wembley thanks to Ollie Watkins’ third international goal.
The Three Lions inflicted Italy’s only defeat in qualifying so far in the reverse fixture with goals from Declan Rice and Harry Kane, who became England’s all-time record goalscorer with a well taken penalty. The Italians are now under new management however, with Luciano Spalletti taking over from Roberto Mancini and things have picked up, winning three and drawing one of their last four matches.
They now sit just three points behind England here and a win here would see the table become incredibly interesting heading into the last few matches, with Ukraine also waiting for a slip up on 10 points.
