Egypt vs DR Congo odds
Although we are in the last 16 of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Egypt haven’t really got going. The record African champions finished second in their group but they are still awaiting their first victory. It was a hat-trick of draws for Egypt, and in the first two they had to rescue a point. Firstly it was through an injury-time Mohamed Salah penalty against Mozambique, before Mostafa Mohamed equalised with 15 minutes to go vs Ghana. In their final game, Egypt did have a win taken away from them having taken the lead in injury time, with Bryan Teixeira scoring even later to secure a 2-2 draw for Cape Verde.
For DR Congo, see Egypt (without the history). This is a matchup between the two qualifying teams yet to win at AFCON this winter, and they both finished second in their group. Two-time winners of AFCON, DR Congo haven’t tasted success since 1974 when they were known as Zaire, and most recently reached the semi-finals in 2014. But this is part of a return to the competition after failing to qualify two years ago. DR Congo had to come from behind to secure two of their draws, against Zambia and Morocco, finishing the group on a stalemate with Tanzania.

Egypt vs DR Congo match tip
Either team to win on penalties @ 4/1 with Sky Bet
It’s hard to see there being a winner in 90 minutes, and even 120. As mentioned, neither Egypt nor DR Congo have won at the Africa Cup of Nations so far this year, with six draws from six games. As the game goes on, there is a chance for tiredness to seep in, especially in extra-time. But as much as this could bring goals, it could also see both sides peter out.
