After scoring both goals in Egypt’s 2-1 victory over Spain last time out, Ibrahim Adel will be full of confidence and hoping to add to his tally against Paraguay.
Paraguay have scored five goals and conceded seven in their three matches so far at the 2024 Olympics.
After topping their group and reaching a third consecutive Olympic Games quarter-final, Egypt will be hoping to go one step further than the previous two games and reach the semi-finals for the first time since 1964. After a slow start with a 0-0 draw against the Dominican Republic, the Pharaohs first held on to a 1-0 win over Uzbekistan before providing one of the shocks of the tournament with a 2-1 victory over Spain thanks to a brace from Ibrahim Adel.
Standing in their way of place in the semi-final and a possible first medal in the country’s history are Paraguay, who will be looking to emulate their performance at the 2004 games in Athens when they made it all the way to the final and picked up a silver medal.
They made the worst possible start to the group stages however, after a heavy 5-0 defeat at the hands of Japan. They soon put that behind them to book their place in the final eight though, with back-to-back victories against Israel and Mali to secure their spot in the final eight for the first time in 20 years.
Egypt U23 face Paraguay U23 at 6pm (UK time) on Friday 2nd August at the Stade Vélodrome in Marseille.

Ibrahim Adel is guaranteed a starting spot in the front three after his two goals against Spain and should be joined by Zizo and Osama Faisal. Mohammed Elneny will captain the side.
Paraguay U23 team news
Wilder Viera had to make do with a place on the bench against Mali after returning from suspension, but may be handed his place back in the starting XI. Marcelo Perez will once again partner Brighton’s Julio Enciso up front.
