The Pharaohs are Africa’s most decorated champions having won the Nations Cup on seven previous occasions. After recently failing to make three consecutive tournament appearances, Egypt have twice finished runners-up across the last three editions including last time out when they lost to Senegal on penalties. Egypt have won eight of their 10 matches in 2023 in all competitions (D1 L1) and will be hoping to make it 11 this weekend.

Mozambique will be playing in their fifth AFCON but have never escaped the group phase. Indeed, they’ve never won a single tournament match losing all but two games (two draws and 10 losses).
