Doncaster vs Everton odds

*Odds correct as of 18:00 on August 29

Everton have had a tough start to the 2023/24 season despite their being some optimism ahead of the campaign, given the fact that Sean Dyche will have had a full pre-season to prepare his squad. After scraping through their relegation battle in May, securing safety by the skin of their teeth, the Toffees have lost all three of their Premier League games so far without finding the net. They are rooted to the bottom of the table and now look to the EFL Cup to provide some hope. They were in a similar spot last season, failing to win any of their first six Premier League games, but beating Fleetwood in the second round of the EFL Cup.

Doncaster Rovers have also had a pretty tough start to this season with just one victory from their opening six matches across all competitions. In the league, it’s been four defeats and one draw with Doncaster stuck bottom of League Two, officially the lowest-placed side in the Football League. However, their sole victory of the campaign did come in the EFL Cup as they beat Hull City 2-1 in the first round.

Doncaster vs Everton match tip

Everton 10+ shots on target @ 6/4 with Sky Bet

Everton may be yet to score in the Premier League this season, but it isn’t for lack of trying. The Toffees have had 43 shots across their three matches so far, with 18 hitting the target. At the same time, Doncaster have conceded 58 shots in League Two so far, conceding 12 goals.

Doncaster vs Everton Bet-Builder tip

Everton to win, Neal Maupay to score & BTTS

It’s been a tough season for Everton so far but they have a good record in the EFL Cup second round, not dropping out of this stage of the competition since 2001/02 — and in recent years they haven’t even had the asterisk of entering at the third round, with European football a distant memory at Goodison Park. Although Everton are yet to score this season, Neal Maupay has been one of their threats, hitting the target with four of his five shots in the Premier League.
