After finishing as runners-up to Burnley, Sheffield United secured automatic promotion back to the Premier League, returning to the top flight after two seasons away. The Blades, now under Paul Heckingbottom, had an impressive home record last term that saw them pick up 51 points from a possible 69, winning 16 of their 23 matches at Bramall Lane and will be hoping they can continue that form into the Premier League.

Crystal Palace, meanwhile, finished 11th in the Premier League last term, after Roy Hodgson’s return to the club turned out to be a masterstroke by the Palace board. The Eagles won five and drew three of their 10 matches under their former boss after he took over in March, leading them away from relegation troubles into a comfortable mid-table finish.

He has returned for another bite at the cherry in 2023/24, as Palace look for a top 10 finish with their talented squad.

The Eagles finished the 2022/23 season with a game against each of the three promoted sides (Bournemouth, Fulham and Nottingham Forest). By facing Sheffield United in this game, the Eagles are the first side to have four consecutive top-flight games in Premier League history.
