How both teams go into Crystal Palace vs Man United
Crystal Palace ended last season strongly under new manager Oliver Glasner, winning six out of seven games. This generated a lot of optimism and excitement for the new campaign. But they have not started as well as hoped.
The Eagles have just two points from their opening four games, with two defeats and two draws. They lost their first two matches against Brentford and West Ham United. But the ship was slightly steadied with draws against Chelsea and Leicester City. The latter saw Crystal Palace come from 2-0 down with Mateta scoring a late penalty to equalise.
Not many expected Erik ten Hag to be the man in charge of Man Utd this season. According to reports, he was set to be sacked regardless of Man United’s result in the FA Cup final. But the Red Devils won the trophy and Ten Hag was allowed to stay out.
In hasn’t proved fruitful just yet. Man United have won two of their opening four league games, with two defeats. They started with a win over Fulham but then lost back-to-back matches against Brighton & Hove Albion and Liverpool. Questions were raised over the international break. But Man United did return with a 3-0 away win over Southampton, before another victory in the EFL Cup in midweek.
Crystal Palace host Man United at Selhurst Park on Saturday 21st September at 5:30pm.
Crystal Palace team news
Crystal Palace will hope to have Trevoh Chalobah available for this game, in what would be a big boost for their threadbare defence. Chadi Riad remains out for a few months, while Rob Holding is also absent. Matheus Franca is still injured but shouldn’t be out for much longer.
Man United team news
Ten Hag will hope to have Rasmus Hojlund available for this game, though he would be likely to start from the bench to manage his return. Mason Mount, Luke Shaw and Victor Lindelof are closing in on returns but this game is expected to be too soon. Leny Yoro and Tyrell Malacia are longer-term absentees.
Crystal Palace vs Man United head-to-head
Man United have not won in any of their last four visits to Crystal Palace in the Premier League, with two draws and two losses, including a 4-0 humbling earlier this year.
