City to continue impressive run

Pep Guardiola’s quest for a record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title looks set to go all the way down to the wire as they continue to battle both Liverpool and Arsenal for the crown.

A 0-0 draw against the Gunners last weekend seemed like a missed opportunity for City, as they failed to score in a Premier League home game for the first time since October 2021, ending a run of 47 league matches at the Etihad. They did follow it up with an impressive victory over Champions League chasing Aston Villa in midweek however, with a Phil Foden hat-trick helping to secure an important three points against Unai Emery’s men in a 4-1 win.

That victory made it 24 games without defeat for City (W20 D4) and 63-games unbeaten across all competitions for Rodri, who marked the occasion with his seventh Premier League goal of the campaign — a new personal best.

Now, they head to Selhurst Park to face a Crystal Palace side who are struggling to get matches over the line, even under new manager Oliver Glasner. After winning his first game in charge 3-0 against Burnley, the former Frankfurt manager has seen his team pick up just two points with two draws against Luton and Forest sandwiched between defeats to top four hopefulls Tottenham and fellow strugglers Bournemouth, who snatched victory late on midweek thanks to a Justin Kluivert strike in the 78th minute.

They won’t be confident of picking up a much needed win this week however,  having failed to score in any of their last four Premier League home games against Man City and failing to win any of their last eight Premier League home games against Pep Guardiola’s men (D2 L6).

Crystal Palace vs Man City match tip

Phil Foden to score anytime @ 9/5 with Unibet

Phil Foden notched his third Premier League hat-trick of his career in City’s 4-1 victory over Aston Villa in midweek to make it 14 Premier League goals for the season — his best ever return in a single top-flight league campaign. He now has as many Premier League hat-tricks as Frank Lampard, Cristiano Ronaldo and Didier Drogba (3).

The 23-year-old has also scored more Premier League goals in 2024 than any other player (9) and has scored five goals in his last five away games in the league for the Citizens.
