Having set the club’s longest unbeaten run in major European competition (12 games in a row) with a 3-2 victory in the first leg, Fiorentina are looking to make even more history and become the first side to reach the Europa Conference League finals in back-to-back campaigns.
Last season, they lost out to David Moyes’ West Ham side thanks to a 90th minute winner from Jarrod Bowen when the game looked set to go to extra-time and having progressed through each of their four Conference League knockout stage ties when winning the first leg, they will confident of making it to the final two once again.
Standing in their way are Club Brugge, who looking to reach their first European final in 46 years, having lost to Liverpool in the 1978 European Cup final (0-1). The Belgian side have been near unbeatable at home this season, losing just once on home soil across all competitions this season and are unbeaten at the Jan Breydel Stadium in the Europa League in 2023/24 (W6 D2), winning each of their last four.
They have only progressed through one of their last nine knockout ties in major European competition after losing the first leg however; although that did come in the round of 16 of this season’s Conference League against Molde (1-2 A, 3-0 H).
