Chelsea vs Wolves prediction, stats, tips and team news

Chelsea and Wolves go head-to-head in the Premier League on Monday, 20th January, at 8pm (UK time). The match will be broadcast live in the UK on Sky Sports Main Event. Find our match preview and best bets below, including an 18/1 player cards double.

Moises Caicedo 2+ Fouls Won (10/11 with Betfair)

Only Cole Palmer (44) has been fouled more times for Chelsea in the Premier League this season than Moises Caicedo (30). This bet has landed in all of his last five matches across all competitions for Enzo Maresca’s men. His fouls won figures in that period read 2,2,2,2,2, and with that in mind, I’m surprised to see almost even money on show for a repeat on Monday.

Marc Cucurella & Nelson Semedo to be Carded (16/1 with Sky Bet)

Both Marcu Cucurella and Nelson Semedo are best-priced to be carded with Sky Bet. Combining the pair via the Bet Builder feature pays a very appealing 16/1.

No player at Chelsea has been carded more than Marc Cucurella this season, who in the Premier League has six yellows and one red in just 19 matches. With odds of 3/1 implying only a one in four chance of this bet landing and an actual strike rate of just under one in three this season, his price is a little too big.

In both 2022/23 and 2023/24, Nelson Semedo was shown a whopping 11 yellow cards for Wolves. He’s on course to match that figure again after six in 19 appearances this time round and can bring home our 16/1 double to kick off the week in style.

How both teams go into Chelsea vs Wolves

Just when they started to look like genuine title contenders, Chelsea have hit a stumbling block. The Blues have managed just three points from their last five Premier League matches in a run that includes disappointing defeats to Fulham and Ipswich. Enzo Maresca’s men are still fifth, but now trail leaders Liverpool by 10 points and only have a two-point cushion over Man City in sixth prior to the latest round of fixtures.

Wolves, meanwhile, lost 3-0 at away to Newcastle last time out, but only after taking seven points from three games against Leicester, Man Utd and Spurs to start the Vitor Pereira era. The Portuguese coach has definitely given Wovles a lift and they now sit just outside the bottom three on goal difference.

Chelsea team news

Benoit Badiashile is out until February and Wesley Fofana until May, but Romeo Lavia should be fit for this match. Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernandez and Levi Colwill are all a doubt.

Wolves team news

Enso Gonzalez and Yerson Mosquera are out for the season, while Nelson Semedo won’t be back in action until early February due to a hamstring problem.

Chelsea vs Wolves head-to-head

As mentioned, there have been a lot of high-scoring meetings between these sides and Wolves have won three of the last four of them.
