Chelsea recorded just their second Premier League victory of the season against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Monday, after two goals in two minutes from Mykhailo Mudryk, who scored his first for the Blues, and Armando Broja, who marked his return with a goal after missing a glorious chance earlier in the half, secured all three points. The Blues have now kept a clean sheet in three of their last five games (2 goals conceded), after a run of conceding at least once in 11 consecutive Premier League games (21 goals conceded), as they continue to improve under Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine was asked his opinion on the recent controversy involving VAR, saying “I trust in the VAR, like I trust in the car, but you know, the driver is the problem.”

“I was very critical from the beginning of VAR many years ago. I think this technology to use if it crosses the line or not, the ball. I think it’s important to keep and then we need offside also. But to take time is important, for the referee. And then maybe we can discuss and argue about, if the referee needs to be more involved or if the referee needs to have the last say”.

Burnley meanwhile, finally got off the mark for the season, with a hard fought 2-1 win against fellow promoted side Luton in midweek, as Vincent Kompany became the first ever Belgian manager to win a Premier League game. The Clarets have faced an incredibly tough start to life back in the top flight, facing Man City, Villa, Tottenham, Nottingham Forest, Man Utd and Newcastle in their opening six matches and face another tough game here against an improving Chelsea side.

If Burnley fall to defeat here, Vincent Kompany will become the first ever manager to lose his first five Premier League home games in charge from the start of a campaign. It will also be the first time Chelsea have won back-to-back Premier League games since October 2022, on year ago.
