How both teams go into Chelsea vs Gent
After beating Swiss side Servette, rather unconvincingly 3-2 on aggregate, Chelsea now prepare for their first-ever full Conference League campaign, returning to Europe following a season out in 2023/24. The Blues are definitely the biggest powerhouse in the competition and are currently 15/8 favourites with Sky Bet to go all the way and lift the trophy. That would make them the first-ever team to win every single major Uefa honour, alongside the Champions League, Europa League, Cup Winners’ Cup and Super Cup.
Gent, meanwhile, are 16/1 fourth favourites to take this trophy and are already well-seasoned in European football this season after beating Vikingur, Silkeborg and Partizan Belgrade across two legs to reach the league phase.
Chelsea team news
The only injury absentee for Chelsea is Reece James although the likes of Cole Palmer, Ben Chilwell and Romeo Lavia have all been left out of the Blues Conference League squad.
Gent team news
Gent have a fully fit squad ahead of their visit to Stamford Bridge. There is English interest in their squad with both Max Dead and Archie Brown expected to start the game.
Chelsea vs Gent head-to-head
This is the first-ever competitive meeting between these two sides. As mentioned, Chelsea have lost just two of their last eight meetings with Belgian clubs and none since 1995, with five wins along the way. The last time they played a team from Belgium was in a 1-1 draw away at KRC Genk during the 2010/11 Champions League group stage. Ramires scored for the Blues that night, while Andre Villas-Boas’ side also featured the likes of Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole, Petr Cech and Fernando Torres.
How to watch Chelsea vs Gent live
