After three games of the 2023/24 Premier League season Tottenham sit third, one of six teams still yet to taste defeat. Postecoglou’s side are just two points behind leaders Manchester City after a positive start under the Australian. Brought in to replace Antonio Conte permanently, Postecoglou had to deal with the departure of Harry Kane in the summer, with no recognised striker brought in. And they opened the season with a 2-2 draw against Brentford, though there was a positive performance. Tottenham have built on that with successive wins over Manchester United and Bournemouth, but they did lose to Fulham in the EFL Cup in midweek.
Spurs have only failed to score in one of their last 22 Premier League games, finding the net in each of their last 15 and will be hoping that run continues at Turf Moor.
Burnley, meanwhile, are finding life back in the Premier League tough. In Vincent Kompany’s first season in charge, the Clarets ran away with the Championship to secure their spot back in the top flight. They were backed to do fairly well in the Premier League under Kompany, but things are yet to click. Burnley have played just two games so far, with their match against Luton postponed, and it has been two defeats. First they lost to Man City on the opening weekend, before falling 3-1 to Aston Villa last weekend. There was success in the EFL Cup though with a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
